Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Mac,
I just want to say that I am happy to see you finally getting some recognition for doing this GoT-project. Also, my hats off to the responsible TWC-staff for both noticing and promoting this exotic and different MTW-adventure. The people who bothered posting here are ultimately giving you (like any modder) the incentive to see this project thru to completion - ultimately letting you know that at least some folks out there, cares and enjoys the results of your hard work on this. It's a shame that there are not more folks who will do the same or follow that example.
As for me... I hope to somehow manage to find a time and a place to give this (your) GoT-thing a serious spin someday. I would have happily rep/fluffed you for this stuff too - if I could (apparently, I can not at this point) - as I think you sure have earned that for all your work done for MTW - including this latest project.
Well done!
- A
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Thanks, Axalon - it goes to show what a difference a front-page announcement can make. Thread views went from about 200 to over 2000 in a few days. There's still some life left in the old MTW1 dog, yet....
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
I need to have a rummage round my house to see if I still have a copy of MTW lying around. :D Awesome work!
EDIT: A tweet for you as well: https://twitter.com/twcnet/status/887246367927808001

Should be totally safe for Steam if your disc has gone AWOL :laughter:
And thanks for the tweet, probably behind the latest jump in thread views....
As for me, I've been playing out my Greyjoy campaign, with the 60% win safely in the bag - then House Martell had a go, and the resulting naval blockade sent the entire map red. I had to consolidate to save the important provinces and prepare for rebellions, and blow me if the Tyrells didn't re-emerge - in force... it took me three days to fight all the defendable battles from that. Of course, the Martell fleet is all fish food now, but the damage is done. I had to retreat to castles in about ten provinces, with some large Tyrell stacks I need to dislodge before they fall. My consolidated provinces will be the bases for the counter-strike, and thankfully I've made good use of the metallic resources of the Iron Islands, and have some good generals. I'm amazed such a huge loss of territory didn't provoke a civil war. Just when I thought I knew this mod inside out, it still managed to serve me my rear end on a silver platter.
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Is MTW on Steam? That'd be great if it was.
You're most welcome, best of luck with the mod. Sounds like you are in for a struggle and a half with this campaign!

Yes it is.
I just acquired it in the Sales.
I cant wait to test this mod, congratulations.
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
So glad I decided to check out the ol' MTW section of the forums - what a treat to find this waiting! Definitely going to check it out. Your latest Greyjoy campaign description sounds like a blast! :D

What you're only finding out now?!!?
shame... Shame... SHAME
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Well, I am a bit out of the TW loop lately :P I do go back to MTW every year or so, though. As the first TW game I played, I still have quite a soft spot for it.
I notice Macsen also has some historical MTW mods... need to get those too, looks like!
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Welcome, Count  It's a few years since our paths last crossed, over at the Org. The Ancient mod has grown into three different ones (see separate thread for more details...) and as you can see, I couldn't resist the urge for a Game of Thrones mod, so as no-one else got around to it....
As for general news, I'm working on a v1.1 patch for AGoT, with a more developed starting position, and a few little corrections; I'll make an announcement when it's available to download.
Enjoy
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Hi folks - I might have been a bit quiet online recently, but I have been working on the v1.1 patch for this (it's the play-testing that takes all the time  ) and it's gone a little further than originally planned. I've added Vale Clansmen for the sole benefit of the Lannisters and the rebels, for one. I'm also in the process of adding a load of heroes for the various factions, including the likes of Paxter Redwyne (Tyrell Admiral), some named Maesters to give a quick-start to diplomacy, Jojen Reed as a Stark Greenseer and various generals like Gregor Clegane, Brynden Blackfish, Roose Bolton, Greatjon Umber, Randyll Tarly, Dagmer Cleftjaw etc etc etc. I've also tidied up the icons for various religious buildings and updated descriptions that were a little off.
Alas, it will no longer be save-game compatible, so you'll need to finish off your campaigns before installing it.
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Sounds great!
I'll need to start a new campaign anyway, as my Dorne campaign seems to be going up in smoke. It's been forever since I've played MTW, and I got a little too complacent building stuff and not preparing for the gang-up that was coming :P
It's awesome to have a campaign turn on you, though - very enjoyable! And the mood & tone & everything of this mod is so spot-on that I'll definitely be playing more. It might even get me to re-read those books...
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
I'm super keen to get MTW1 back up and running on my PC and try this out. It looks great, Macsen. +rep
Feel free to post an announcement here in the Announcements Thread when your patch is ready. The news then gets spread around the forum a bit. ;)
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Superb work mr Rufus !
I look forward to many many years of fun with your mod .
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Thanks guys
Count - I've found that this mod can give some sudden and severe reversal of fortunes. Dorne is an interesting faction, for sure, and very different tactics required on the battle map. You really need to exploit the specialisms - like the light infantry hiding in the open etc. I still need to tweak it a bit more because the AI doesn't train enough cavalry for them.
Frunk - thanks, and you can be sure I'll be using that new thread when the time comes :thumbsup2
Daminios - excellent, and there should be even more fun to be had when v1.1 is ready to roll.
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
May want to edit the pictures in the OP, as I get the garbage third party hosting not enabled message out of them.
Otherwise, pretty good - I wasn't expecting MTW to get the attention :p
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW - Beta release
Hi Commodus - I see I've finally acquired a post-editing facility, now I just have to sort out the uploading of attachments and I should be able to fix that. Whilst I'm at it, I'll also put the latest download links in the first post as well...
Edit to add: actually, Ill do some new screenshots, no point just reloading the old development-phase ones....
Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW
You can upload them to an album on your TWC profile, which can then be embedded as normal with [IMG] tags, and the added benefit that they'll never kick the Photobucket. :P

Re: A Game of Thrones Mod for MTW
Thanks, Frunk - sorted
I was flying under the Photobucket radar quite well until this thread got so popular :laughter:
