(Does the world really need)Another Spartan...
I was bored and thus decided to make another Spartan-skin for RTW...because...uhm...there aren't quite enough yet.:shifty:
Any similarities to the portrayal of these heroic warriors in other media is -of course- unwanted and coincidental.

There might be still some glitches and I detailed install-instructions are missing as I think that most people still plying RTW are capable of installing them themselves

The unit looks cool. My only issue is that they look a little bit pink, almost sun-burned. Other than that it's great.
Also the zip file appears to be corrupted. Can you please re-post.
Re: (Does the world really need)Another Spartan...
Glad you guys like it (I myself can not:ATHENS FTW:rolleyes: ).
@Crawe
I changed the skin a bit after I took the screen (look at the UI on the left corner, that's the actual color now - a bit less "couch potatoe sunburn" I think).
The file should be okay, only it's a renamed .rar, not a zip.If you aren't using winrar yet, you should try:http://www.rarlab.com/
Feedback though is always welcome, so I could fix the model next weekend -when I've the time- I could also add an officer model with sword only and a black plume.
I think the model is working best with Sig's overhand hoplite animation (not tested),EB's(alin's) is working too though (as can be seen in the screen).
Re: (Does the world really need)Another Spartan...
I cant seem to get the skin to work...I'm attempting it in 1.5 vanilla and have added the tga.cas and .cas files to the appropriate data folders...and I changed the the spartan_pylos tga.cas and .cas paths to 299th_SPARTAN - yet it still doesnt work...instead when I try and use them via a custom battle the battle load halfway and then CTDs on me...Also, I cant remember but where does the UI file go? Any help would be nice, thanks
Re: (Does the world really need)Another Spartan...
well, it shouldnt be tga.cas, it should be tga.dds

Yeah - I changed that up but it's still doing the same thing...
I've correctly changed all the paths in descr_model_battle to both 299th_SPARTAN.TGA.dds and 299th_SPARTAN.cas and the .cas and .dds files are in their correct locations...does it need the UI folder to work? Isnt the UI only the unit card and what not? Plus where does the UI folder go? Just in the Data folder?
Re: (Does the world really need)Another Spartan...
the texture line in descr model battle should end with the .tga chop the .dds off this is a ctd if you dont do this

Superb unit Alcibiades of Athens,
You think you could do a version without the overhand animation, pleeeaassee..
Thanks a lot for the unit,
Benjamin

Animations are not part of the model, but the model is actually meant for the overhand-anims, I think I used a spear I used for a different model "optimised" for Sig1's animation and on the screen you can see that EB's does work as well.
Re: (Does the world really need)Another Spartan...
I see your point.
It is just that in the movie 300 the spartans fight mostly with the spears and shield aligned with each other, and not in the overhand style.

Really ?
Because I kind of failed to see yours, somehow I must have missed one rather important part of the "without".
So, coming back to your original question:yes of course I could, here it is.
