Hi, RTW fellows.
I´m SOLÓN DE ATENAS, leader of ROME TOTAL REALISM ANÁBASIS III.
Finally, the spanish team of RTRA want to bring our mod to the TWC Community. We began many years ago inspired on Rome Total Realism 6.0, but eventually, we develop our new and original mod. Now we want to present a general view of RTRA III, and we hope that you enjoy the preview.
- FACTIONS -
The RTRA III factions are 21 (including rebel faction) and some switch factions added in different patches. The names of these factions are in latin for western factions and in greek for eastern ones.
The RTRA III map is a completely new one, called it "ORBIS TERRARUM" and still is under construction. As the factions names, western provinces/cities are named in latin and eastern ones in greek language.
Mostly, in the barbarian zone, it used to be difficult find appropriate region/city names. For this reason, we use roman/greek settlements names which had a native settlement formerly. e.g. ILTIRTA (iberian name) is changed by ILERDA (roman name).
This complete new map has the provinces, rivers and the roads connections finished, but still I must work about many others things in the strat maps like: sparse and dense forest, ground textures, correct cities position, resources, city buildings, population and garrisons and many others things... With this map, I will extract pieces from to create shorter campaigns like: Hamilcar and Hannibal Barca campaigns, Boudicea campaign and other...
This map will be available like a free source for all the TWC Community when I finished it (before MOD release), to allow other RTW Modders use it.
This preview were updated on the first message of this post.
The RTRA III units are under construction at the moment. Nevertheless, we are design an original way to produce the units trying to make the process easy and faster.
The RTRA III buildings are designed to create a smart economy which increase or decrease different bonuses. RTRA provide government tradiction, policy system, new farming policy, colony town's system and many others features.
The RTRA III cultures are seven: BARBARIAN (HAEDUI, SUEBI, ICENI, LUSITANI), SEMITIC (PUNICI, NABATAIOI, SABAIOI), EASTERN (PARTHOI, PONTIKOI, ARMENIKOI), INDIAN (INDOI), EGYPTIAN (PTOLEMAIKOI), GREEK (PERGAMONOI, BAKTRIOI, MAKEDONIKOI, SELEUKIDOI, LAKEDAIMONIOI, KIMMERIOI, HELLENIKOI), ROMAN (ROMANI).
- UNIQUE CITIES -
The RTRA III unique cities is an initiative to create more diversity between RTW cities. Sometimes with small details and sometimes with a complete modification.
The RTRA III historical characters is created by the Alexander platform. We are trying to generate the most amount possible to provide the most historical experience. They could be generals, diplomats or even spies...
The RTRA III resources on strategy map has changed. This are the new ones.

Naval battles is interesting. Is there a melee component to them or is it just ranged combat?

RTRA III is based on ALEX.EXE, but our Naval Warfare it will only playable for BI.EXE in historical battle mode. You know, ships are elephants swimming in a sea coordinate. So, we have melee and ranged combat mixed with the appropiate balancing.

It is the thing that we are discussing... I talk with Gigantus about that, but it is a huge additional job, so we don´t know about that.

Re: Rome Total Realism Anábasis III
Hey, ahowl11, how are you? I will text you soon.
Actually, naval battles is only possible to historic or custom battle by now. I know that it is possible in campaign, but not in an elegant or really functional way...
Hi again, RTW fellows and happy new year, by the way.
I'm pretty conscient that RTW is a very old platform to develop a mod but I love it and I have worked for a long time in my project and I would like to finish this last and third version of RTRA.
The mod is in a good point even when we are working very slow on it. The map is almost finished and completely playable. In addition, we are worked in new ambients, landscapes, illumination, cities, units, factions, etc.
Today, I only want to leave some screenshots about some random units on battlefield to show a little bit more about this aspect and don't let the community forget about us. I have been thinking about the RTRA III future and finally this mod will be translate to english and published in an appropriate subforum of TWC Community with the Gigantus permission.
Unfortunately, the mod is still under construction and the PC where I usually test the mod has low graphical resources. So, I'm sorry for the small unit scale and these screenshots without anti-aliasing and high quality units/vegetation models available.
I have worked in 12 types of new climates, mixing the ROME SURRECTUM resources, the Non-Binary-person trees and others resources and trees that I worked by myself.
I´m going to explain every kind of climate, using a generic name because the RTW climates represent a climate plus a biome with the most representative flora.
Main species of every RTRA III biome-climates.
- ALPINE-MONTANE FOREST: Norway Spruce, Silver Fir, Rocks and Bushes. (Mountain areas in North and Central Europe, including Alps, etc). - HIGHLAND-BOREAL FOREST: Aspen, Scots Pines, Oaks, Rocks and Bushes. (Northern areas of Europe, including Baltic Sea coastline). - EUROPEAN TEMPERATE FOREST: European Beech, Oaks, Rocks and Bushes. (Main kind of Europe forest on hills, valleys and lowlands). - EUROPEAN OCEANIC FOREST: European Beech, European Hornbeam, Oaks, Rocks and Bushes. (European coastal forest and some Mediterranean areas). - EURASIAN CONTINENTAL STEPPE: Scots Pines, European Larch, Bushes and many Flowers. (Continental grassland of Eurasia). - EASTERN FRUIT TREES MEADOW: Walnut Tree, Almond Tree, Olive Tree, Prunus Armeniaca, etc. (Eastern lowlands, valleys, hillside, etc). - MEDITERRANEAN WET FOREST: Pinus Pinea, Pinus Halepensis, Quercus Suber, Olive tree, Cypress, Spanish Broom, etc. (Mediterranean area). - MEDITERRANEAN DRY FOREST: Cedars, Olive Trees, Quercus Suber, Cypress, Bushes, etc. (South-eastern Mediterranean area and some montains). - XERIC-SHRUBLAND SAVANNAH: Umbrella Acacia, African Palms, Savannah Bushes. (Transitional climate beetween Mediterranean and desert areas). - ARID ROCKY DESERT: Phoenix Dactylifera and other desert shrubs. (Rocky deserts of some Sahara and Arabian areas). - ARID SANDY DESERT: Phoenix Dactylifera and other desert shrubs.(Sandy deserts of some Sahara and Arabian areas). - TEMPERATE SHRUBLAND DESERT: Dead Trees, Tamarisk Trees, Big Dry Shrubs, and Xeric Bushes. (Temperate desert, including Karakum, Kyzlkum and Takamaklan desert, etc).
Still I´m working to improve and complete these climates...
=)
