There, updated again to include the E4300.
By the way, is it just me, or are the prices of CPUs and RAMs going up? That's not good, it's suppose to down. The E6300 just went up $15!

So how are we supposed to know about how many amps they have on how many rails? For example, if I wanted to get this PSU, it doesn't tell me this information. Or am I being dumb?
sadly they havent given you any of the info that would be handy here. Best thing to do is try and find the same psu on a website liek new egg that acctually gives this info then order it.
It looks very similer to this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104935
which only has 14/15 amp which would give about 180watt 12v's i would stay away from it. You want something with about 17/18amp these days.
Thanks for the heads up Doono.
What about this PSU? Any better? I need one with at least 2 SATA conectors for my two WD Caviar SE16's
Try to go for a good reputable company like Enermax, OCZ, or Antec. I never heard of that company before.
See if you can find the PSU listed in the guide (1st post) on that site. Those are the best bang for the buck.
whats your budget? You need to spend about £50 - £60 to get a good quality psu with stong 12v's
Pfff, I don't really have a buget for PSU's as such, but since I am approximately £80 over my original £750 budget for the entire PC, I really don't think I can spend loads on a PSU.
Be my guest though... if you can find a better PSU out of the range here, then I'll go with that.
*Edit
Since you asked though, my budget I suppose is about £50 and I could stretch about £5 so £55 MAX!
ahh this makes it a lot tougher, you're building on a website... Hmm if i was you i would definitly go with the 520 watt OCZ it has a very impressive 28amp 12v according to the OCZ website but im not sure if this is correct and i don't think it falls into your requirments.
It's £57 anyway
Could someone else confirm the ampage on this? http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...m_power_supply
Edit:
I checked the site for the forton/source range and the bluestorms are definitly are a no go option it confirms the 15 amp rails which is bad. The 400 watt bulk one however does have an 18 amp rail which is fine for what you need but again im not sure about what you need in terms of cables.
P.S don't get a 7300 LE it's junk especially considering your building a C2D system.
Is there anything in particular I should bare in mind when buying a case for a mid-range computer, and are there any particularly good brands?
What do you consider mid-range? And are you going to OC anything at all?
Honestly, I'd say not really. Just as long as the case has all the drive bays you want and it looks nice.
Depending on how high spec your components are I'd say Airflow, airflow, airflow!!
Otherwise, just as long as it looks to you liking, everything should be fine.
buy the cheapest there is
complete opposite of me - I got a Temjin TJ09 and I say its worth every penny, ONE warning the fan duct for GOU cooling will need to be cleaned for dust quite regularly
Im going to be getting an X1900 XT at some point in the future, and I want to know if it will be limited by my processor/ram or if it will be able to be fully utilised to play M2TW.
I have this rig:
AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 at 2.6 ghz
2 GB Corsair ram
X850 XT OCed to 560 mhz
SB Audigy 2 soundcard
Hmm does no one know?
Well your RAM wouldn't really limit your GPU, your CPU might. However, in these circumstances it won't, no + you'll be able to play M2TW with all settings maxed out since I can on my X1950Pro at a resolution of 1680x1050, and your X1900 XT is better card!
All settings maxed out are you serious? That includes grass, shadows and antialiasing? Wow. My resolution is 1280x1024 and needs AA to look good.
Yes I am serious. And yeh it includes grass and shadows. Maybe not Anisotropic filtering, but I am not sure to be honest. I know all my settings are maxed (AF is on 8 and AA is on 4) and I run the game on a 20" monitor at it's native resolution - 1680x1050 32bit - and I get absolutely no slowdowns or poor performance.
Your video card is better than mine and you're going to be running the game at a significantly smaller resolution, thus I don't see why you wouldn't be able to max everything out! =D
Well I won't have this video card for a while. Its going to be a handmedown from my brother when he gets a better one, just like this X850 XT is a handmedown when he got the X1900s.
BTW what processor and RAM do you have?
I hating having posts which are the last ones of the page, it means that know will read the damm thing!
BTW Citizen you won't need to upgrade that PC of yours a E6400 for a number of years it can go to 3ghz + no problems. :)
