For the midrange - how about 7600 GS - it is capable of playing FEAR at 1280*1024.
Na, it struggles in some newer games like G.R.A.W and Oblivion. And its too cheap to be mid range.
Well, then the 7600 GT should do the job admirablely.
Well Incinerate_IV, it looks like your stuck in the middle my friend! You've got me always harping on expensive high end stuff and Lee1026, whom your having to add an "Ultra Lowend-Budget" catagory for! Damn Lee! I thought I was frugal, but you make me look like a high roller, man!
Hey, Incinerate, you need to put my name in parenthesis in the "Ultra Highend" catagory as one of those divine people who can tell the difference between 60 and 120 FPS! Yeah, I felt the poke in my ribs on that one! Man, I can't believe you don't agree with me on that....:pinch:
He makes everyone look like a high roller, including me. :pinch: Now I regret buying my 7900GT. :(
How do you think I felt before Hadrian came.... Lee had me beat down with shere statistics...
Good thread...
I needed something like this discussion to consolidate my next rig... what do u guys think is the best config for TW series (cost-effective)... mid, high or ultra high end ???
Any mid or low end one can play RTW fine.
How about SPQR or MTW2?Quote:

Also, for MTW 2, wait until the game actually comes out. I would be surprised if ultra low won't do a good job at it, however.....
Thank you thank you thank you :thanks:
I am pretty sure that I am now free of having to Dell my next PC. Unless I see a good review of the XPS 700 from a reputable sight within the next month. I am now taking a close look at Maingear and Velocity Micro. Both got good reviews from Hardocp and I can stick with AMD going through them.
Now if I can keep the wife on track, :inqusitio , I will have a high-end gaming PC to hopefully last me four or five years.
One thing though, should I really go with a 10K rpm hard drive or will the 7200 rpm be fine? :sign_ques

there is also a rumor of another round of rebates/price drops on 07/24/06 on the X2's
Uber high also means that you dont have to upgrade for even longer. And im not exactly rich and I am going for Uber high( well iv never went higher than ultra low budget before):laughter:Quote:

But remember, RTW will be 2 years old when MTW2 comes out, so what was high then(cant even remember) will still be able to run MTW2 on medium settings, so only if you cant run RTW on high then should you upgrade(unless you really want to).
But i would recon that anything that was medium spec in 2005 will be good enough to get the best out of MTW2.
Of course, if you are using ultra low, you have to upgrade a year later. If you are using ultra high, you would have to upgrade in three years. ultra low cost some 1/5 of ultra high.
Now that depends on wether you still want to play the latest games at 2500x1600 at the highest settings. I could easily scale down to 1280x1024 for a year before upgrading, and at least i would get games at the highest settings for 3 years, with ultra low you cant even get the current games at medium settings...Quote:

I just want to get a solid answer on this. Will there be any problems with a Radeon X1900XTX running on a motherboard designed for SLI, if it's the only card? Will it be less powerful or more difficult to take to it's full potential, or will there simply be any problem with it aside of being unable to run it in a crossfire system?

EDIT, this is wrong, ATI cards will work fine on an nVidia mobo.
What you need is a crossfire board, and if you want Crossfire you will need a master and a slave card as well.
