Re: Why protest against tyranny?
dear basics,
Have you thought perhaps that the diarrhea attack was a message from God? maybe he didn't want you to go to the doctor, but to reflect on something? about our vulnerability maybe? Wouldn't it have been better than going to the doctor to rejoice in His Message?
I have no explanation for your toenails though. I'm sorry.

I do if he was in Hospital emergency visit or similar it really was not likely the nurses job sans it being related to treatment. My father has been mostly wheel chair bound after a pair of massive strokes left him partially paralyzed some 25 years ago. In general over that time nail care is the kind of thing he went to salon that did pedicures for. At some point being chair bound impacted on how his toe nails grew. So now he has to go to a podiatrist for specialist care for the issue but it would not be something any nurse would just do in any hospital. Contra it is something say my mother in law got done for her in hospice with terminal Parkinson's dementia but that was long term care staff/nurses.
Re: Why protest against tyranny?
conon394,
What's so hard about cutting someone's toenails? Surely a person caring for someone would have no problem doing that as well as much messier things for them. Isn't that what nursing is?

Hard or not is not the point. 'Nursing' ins not some synonym for personal servant. Job descriptions very and cutting you nails very much may not be in any person's. The person cleaning a hospital room, running the kitchen, and or delivering meals or disposing of medical waste are all part of hospital service none of which suggests they can be waylaid to cut your nails on request.

conon394,
When I was a kid in hospital to get my tonsils done the Matron ran the place and in each ward a Sister was the boss who oversaw the work that the nurses did which was to clean, make beds, see to patients being fed as they dished out the food as well as being cared for and if Matron heard or saw anything out of place there was big trouble. Changed days now and certainly not as good.

It seems the only experiences that matter to you are those you've had, or those people you know have had. We can't decide policy based on you and your friend's experiences alone. Can you evidence the issues you've been discussing here with statistics or studies that have wider scope than this?

Matron Sisters. So you were in a Hospital when, of what type. Getting a bit of sexist vibe out your view of nursing.
"Changed days now and certainly not as good"
Ahh yes back in my day...
Re: Why protest against tyranny?
It really was better when he only talked about Christ and the Bible.
Re: Why protest against tyranny?
What in the eyes of many was that young girls flocked from all over, girls with no academic qualifications, to become nurses which many did after they served and were tested along the way just like apprenticies did. One didn't need university degrees to learn how to look after people as caring was more important then, not like it is now. They learned on the job, but then most of you younger folks never experienced those times nor are ever likely to. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of what caring for others is about as He wasn't scared to get His hands dirty when in amongst the lame and helpless. He needed no certificates because He was sent to serve, not to say I can't do it because it's beneath my educational standard as is the case on many occasions today.
Re: Why protest against tyranny?
Please, next time you go to your doctor, ask him to cut your toenails and extract that tooth that is bothering you. And if he refuses for any reason, tell him that he is not a good Christian, that Jesus would have done it.

Is there a reason you can't answer a direct question?
Re: Why protest against tyranny?
Today is not a day for debate or argument, rather a celebration that our Creator was born a man to bring about all that was foretold of Him. A happy Christmas to one and all.

My friend died two days ago so you'll forgive me for not responding as I usually do. My thoughts right now are for his wife and two daughters who have lost a husband and father.
