I have a rather unique request. I've been trying to uninstall/delete CoW to get a fresh version of Med 2 on my steam and it has become impossible to remove it from my PC.
I have tried deleting local content, uninstalling Med 2 then running a cleaner. This removes CoW from my computer, but then when I re-instal Med 2 it thinks CoW is part of the base game and adds a CoW folder into my mods after it was totally wiped from my PC. It's like my files are haunted. I cannot run any Kingdoms expansion because I get "Med 2 has suffered a fatal error and will now exit".
Any suggestions on how to remove it properly and entirely would be appreciated.
That's pretty bizarre, there's nothing special done with BoTET to do that, it's all self contained in its mod folder. You might have something going on either with Windows or Steam, most likely Windows keeping a second copy of your Medieval 2 folder somewhere, either due to some automatic backup you have enabled you don't know about, or a VirtualStore thing.
When you installed the mod, you put it on your mods folder, and uninstalling it should just be removing it from your mods folder, that's as far as anything we've had to do with it goes. As far as I'm aware it shouldn't even have any registry changes to clean.
If you figure it out, I'd like to know the details.
I am not much of an expert with Steam but in Windows my first suspect would be the Virtual Store. Try running this tutorial and then delete the m2tw directory in the virtual store if it exists. I have heard of some file verification issues in Steam but not of an instance with mod files. The inability to run any kingdom campaigns could be a registry issue. Try running a registry cleaner as well to clear this issue after you uninstall M2TW. This will require a restart after uninstalling, then clean the registry, then restart and reinstall.
I can't do sieg battles. Soon as one starts loading up from the campaign map it CTD with the "Unknown Error" message.

... unfortunately I can't use without many crash --> about 1 or 2 per turn.
The most of them are at the end of the Minor Faction turn (on the end of Turn)... but sometimes it is after battles (automatic or not), perhaps when the AI must move the loosing army ??? I don't know what happen... and I spend about 5 hours testing and searching in my log file without understanding...
(I try to stop the Virtual store for M2TW... but had no success)
Maybe you'll have an idea ??? I hope...

Thanks for the great work guys. Nearly all CTD errors disappeared although one still remains.
It happens only during battle with Ogres.
When battle happens on the open field reloading several times your save game usually helps.
On the other hand Siege battles are stubborn and I cant skip the error; no matter how many times I try to replay the siege - error appears after ~2-3 minutes on the battlefield.
My log has ~170 MB. I dont know what to paste so below are last rows of the file.

Hello guys, i have a problem. When i start campaign, i have a crash telling me that a fatal graphic error as been encountered. Since i have a good PC, i think it's a bug or some conflict between files. I tried to lower the graphics at the minimum but still the game crashes. Should i try to reinstall the whole game?
Compress the log (7Zip is freeware) and then attach it -200MB shrinks to 4MB.
Tip: a trace log slows down game processing, if the turn end time gets too bad then change the level = * trace entry in the mod's CFG file to level = * error. Once you encounter a repeating error switch back and submit the log.
I see the meme states recruitment problems... as high elves in the grand campaign map i can't recruit archers... their buildings that are clearly ( it states they are for ranged recruitment) for such a purpose do not enable any recruitment of elf archers. Is this a known bug? When I played DE i can recruit them just fine but HE don't.

Hey, Im playing as Riekland and whenever I conquer the final territory of Middenland (the one most west with a coast line) I get a CTD sating "We could not prevent the end times!" This happens only AFTER I select to Occupy, Sack or Enslave the town.
Now reinstalled the whole mod, now the system.log contains this:

I always crash after 3-4 turns. Always regardless of situation. I downloaded the game from Moddb.
Any fix?
