Thread: Why are birthdays usually the worste days of my life?

Default Why are birthdays usually the worste days of my life?

My birthday was today, and I have to say, it was one of the worste days I've had in a long time... I mean, real bad. It's been a similar story my whole life.

I think after today I will not have good relations with my father, and that things will only get worse. I won't go on about details, but its so terribly ironic.

These days of celebration have never brought me anything but greif.

So.......what happened? Usually, everyone forgets my birthday(Family,Friends, School Annoucements, etc.) and I'm fine with it. It's only when they forget me Christmas that it bothers me

    Happy birthday Kennylz.

and you to Zodiac( til your next birthday)

well I don't know what happened, but usually that is a fathers work. " Why don't you become like me, get a job, why didn't you recieve an A+, why don't you like this and that and this and this and why do you like that?"

Believe me, your relations with your father will be good, after he you are his son and he si your father.

Hey Kennylz, if there are any problems you want to talk about Pm me, I mean it is always good to tell a friend your problems If not me, someone else. you can't keep bad things in your head, if you do. it will turn to hatred.

I wish it was back to that level, Eranshahr. Lol, and thanks, but I think I'll just ride it out...

I don't know why I made the thread. I guess just to see if anyone had really poor quality birthdays.

if I were allowed to guess, your emotions were too strong and you needed to get out your feelings. My suggestions is to talk to your father, and tell your parents that your birthday's feel bad.

Don't think I am gay, or a woman, or something like that. I just care about people and think it is everybody's right to be happy. I am also called the " Class Psychiastrist" by my class

the reason might be that you are depressed or maybe that you know birthdays are bad, so you indirectly puts it in your head and make the day feel bad for you, even if it was good?

No i have never had a bad birthday, nobody forgets mine, my parents always suprise me. But I should shut up before people starts hating me

I think it's just a matter of either high or low expectations. I know that most of my birthdays from my childhood up til' I was 15 were terrible because of this. Either my expectations were too high, leading me to be depressed when the reality didn't meet up to the expectations, or my expectations were too low, and the reality met the expectations, leaving me even more depressed.

You just have to remember that your birthday is not supposed to be a test of how much you are loved and how much people care about you, it should just be about how much you can enjoy yourself, get drunk/high, and chill. You will be happy, and people will care for you if you relax and enjoy yourself.

Lol, I'm nineteen, I wasn't expecting a party, with cake, and the etcetera. It just turned into a constant fight, which almost broke into a physical one with weapons at multiple times, with some of the most vile things said between my family members, and an assortment of smaller problems that all chose to appear on such a wonderful day.

I feel you, have had many birthdays like it. I have to say I really dislike my father, don't want to use the word hate, but it seems like me and you have been through similar problems with our fathers. Of course you're dad may be different, but my best way to calm down, and calm my father down, was to just leave the house, go hang out with some friends, and just forget about it. After arguments people are usually to heated to try and resolve the issue, so it's best to give it some time. Happy birthday BTW, and don't worry about any problems in the family. You guys are family after all, and family will find a way to stick together.

I had a cold on my birthday. Luckily the roast chicken made up for it.

Nothin special about roast chicken man. If you would've said Lamb Roast, or New York steak with baked potato I'd be right there with you, but they sell roast chicken at every damn supermarket. Way too common for me to get happy over.

I stopped throwing birthday parties since i was 5. I have family things. But normally just get a CD or something and the family goes out to steak for dinner for everyone(july/august birthdays in our family) But i get things year round so it makes up for it

Now here's a man after my own tastes. No fancy gifts, just a little music and a nice evening out with the family eating steak (not chicken).

Today is my birthday too!! (July 21th) And I think it is 100% great!! I started to celebrate one day before 21th. First I went to a local zoo (free), and then ate Kasudon (Japanese Pork Chop Rice, my favourite dish!!!) and Sushi, then I bought Panzer Phase One and Two in $20 (my favourite WWII game, going to write a review for both of them after I complete Phase Two). I did all activity alone, since I find it is extremly annoying to go out with others. Then I bought a cake and shared with some of my friends until midnight.

Today, I went to Six Flags of Great America, a theme park. Of course, I separated with my friends once we all reached destination, seemed I found them more an annoying than enjoying. I played alone and found it 100% great!! Including two times my clothes completely wet (and I dried them using natural resource!!! ). We came back before 10 pm today, then I finished the cake yesterday and spent the last hour with a girl I like!!! Completely a great day!!!

Oh, forget to mention, I had a good conversation with my family too. Since I have left my family one and half years and never see them after that, it is kindly touch to speak with them on phone (although we did that once every week), especially my birthday. Lucky my sister did not forget my birthday (of course, with a lot of reminders). Unfortunately my mom is in Taiwan and cannot talk to me...

Anyway, yesterday and today are great to me!!!

Edit: It seems it becomes a tradition for me to celebrate my birthday alone... I don't know, I find it annoying to spend time with others most time, including my close friends... Anyway, if you want to spend the day alone, just go for it. What others did was just second to me.

Today (22nd) is my birthday, and i am sort of ambivalent to it because it doesnt really mean anything to me aside from 1 year closer to emancipation and maybe a little cash. I never really have bad birthdays because i dont think i expect anything out of them, like sibylez said.

    oo you lucky boy!!

anyway Kennylz for what its worth i find that birthdays after about the age of 13/14 lose their magic, only the big ones (16,18,21) seem to be of any significance.

on the TV they paint a image of everyone having a large family and they all get along, thats sadly not the truth. in future i recomend that if your family cant get along, stop having the family around for your birthday. just have your idmediate family (siblings, parents and maybe grandparents) and your friends.

i am also pritty certain that your family (particulary those who where involved in the arguement) feel AWFUL for ruining your special day.
