i think it would be a great idea if every american had to serve a certain amount of time in the military

**** that ****. I don't have the emotional maturity to deal with getting shot at. Hell, no.
I get only one chance to be a stupid kid and goof off. And ain't about to waste that chance by sitting in some ass-hat uniform, listening to some ass-hat sergeant yell his throat out, serving in some ass-hat war, for some ass-hat leader I straight-out don't like.

Unfortunately, these choices aren't available to everyone.

The military and pervading culture would not support compulsory service that included women, gays, people with criminal records, and people with medical problems.

General civil service would, and it includes military service.

It's simple:

1. We want Iraq, and we want centers in Iraq to control a resource that they have in abundance. Like a colony you could say. and it's been my understanding that building colonies would be Imperialistic. and we're building these centers for Oil, and we are fighting to make the colonies.
