Battlefield 2 Problems

Yeah, I know this is a relatively old game, but there's still surprisingly a lot of people that play it. Anyway, I've been having this problem with BF2 since I got it. I mean, every time I play it always crashes (it stops dead in game). Then I have to turn off my comp. Then when I play everything goes fine for a while, then exit-crash right in mid-game.

And to make matters worse, I constantly have to uninstall and reinstall it every time it does that, and it still does it! At first I thought it was the graphics, but no I don't think so (I play on Low-res usually, then I tried High-res and still got the same result). I have the 1.41 patch (which is part of the BF2 Collection CD). I mean WTF!? Seriously!

Anyone else have this problem?

Had that too, it was usually you had to upgrade your vid car drivers for some appearnt reason, when i didnt the game was a split 50/50 ctd, or very laggy multi player game, it was fixed by updateing my gfx drivers, catalyst etc

what vid card are you using, you probably have to update it.

did you update your gfx card, latest catalyst etc, see if that works

mines an ati radeon 1600pro and bf2 isnt what you call userfriendly to my card, but once it was updated it worked, albeit laggy on some maps but i can somewhat deal with it.

Battlefield 2 stole my money.

Does this happen only with BF2 or do other graphic intensive games also crash?

Just BF2. It seems that it's the only game I've ever played that always has problems.

There are a lot of things you can do to try resolve this.
- Uninstall Battlefield 2 and then go and delete the BF2 folder from the Programmes folder (should be under EA games)
- Run CCleanerl and clear out all the dead registry entries and temporary files.
- Update your video card drivers
- Update to the lastest version of DirectX
- Run Adware and Spy Bot Seach and Destroy (elinmate all spy and adware)
- Defrag your hard drive

If you don’t want to do all of that at least do the first thing (uninstall and run CCleaner) and update your video drivers.

I played Battlefield 2142 Demo (which is awesome) and it did the exact same thing! (which not only surprised me, but also pissed me off!)

I'm going out on a hunch here but going by what you just said I'm guessing you have never updated your drivers before. Use the link posted above.

I went there already, and it doesn't have drivers for 7400, unless it's merged with 7600 . . . but that wouldn't make much sense. Plus I tried that and it didn't work.

And yes, I've never updated my graphics drivers.

I have a problem as well it keeps on saying that I have an invalid cd key despite the fact that it is valid i brought it brand new from eb

Now all we have to do is sort out drivers.

That's a bugger to solve. Basicly what it means is the file has become corupted, you could try downloading it agian but I fear you will get the same problem.

You could try copying to another Hard drive or a USB memory stick or any other memory card and try running it from there.
