Yes, this is pretty old news. The brain recognizes the word and fills the rest in as long as the first and last letters of the word are in their correct place.

Because when we read, we dont read each individual letter, we skim past the word too quickly for that.

That's only in languages with more complicated spelling rules, such as English. I'm sure it isn't the case in Romanian.

Its funny, you can always spot those that are new to the internet by what they post as interesting or mind boggling on a message board. Or how innocent they are when they say things like "whats lemon party, goatse and crusty pizza?" Trust me, you don't want to know. Speaking of goatse, apparently CNN got goatse'd on live network television during their youtube debate. Thats my random post of the day.
