PREVIEW

Rules
Maximum of four merc units more in emergancies.
Armies will at first consist of normal Polish units.
No money cheats except for process_cq
Never break alliances.
Go to war with Rebels first. Go to war only if another faction attacks first.
King leads the best armies.

In a world of hostility and treachery only the strongest survive. The weak fall apart and traiters are hanged. But one kingdom stands out among the rest. With a king with a dream. A dream to create an empire that few could accomplish. And its name would be The Polish Empire.

CONQUEST&AMBITION

Chapter 1
King Waldislaw looked out of his palace in Krakow, he could hear birds chirping in the garden. He could see the cities streets, bursting with activity. A servent then came with some news.

"My lord the council wishes a meeting with you", said the servent.
"Why do they decide to hold a meeting when it is a quiet day", replied Waldislaw.
"It is urgent my lord that is all I know", told the servent, walking out of the room. Waldislaw but his hand on his chin. "I wonder what they want", wondered the King.

In the Council building it was loud as usual,with debates about local affairs and foreign affairs. The king was bored why have all, this talk when there was more important things at stake.

He then stood up.Looking at all the councilors with a stern look.
"My fellow Poles today I have decided that Poland shall expand her borders".
A large noise of chattering began.
"Why expansion we have enough terrotory here" called a councilor.
"Look at the state we are in a rebellion, 10 miles to the Nothwest and a rebel castle to the North. And the other powers of the world looking down at us with their ugly faces. It is time we follow our ambitions, but it will be hard to follow them but we are Poles! a proud people living in a proud nation it is time we start acting like it. Ready the nation raise the taxes because today we take up arms".

The Council began shouting but quickly calmed down. "It is time we destroy the rebels and smash the northern pagans we shall rebuild our nation but more than that we shall have conquest. So all those in favour say I!

The Battle of Waldislaw's Hill
The Rebels deployed on top of a hill over looking the Polish lines.
The Polish on a opposite hill.
"Men today we face traitors and asoted scum. Today they are ready to be hanged. Today we will be victorious".
A huge up roar erupted from the Polish ranks it was said people in local villages could hear the cheer.

The Battle began when the Polish sterzcly opened fire on the rebel ranks but took casualties in the process.


The rebels had chosen their ground well their archers could retaliate with ease. So the King then sent in the Nobles to help the stzerzcly out.


They then showered the Rebels with javelins whofell a few feet back just to get out of the way. By then the Polish began to advance on their postion.


The Polish foot archers stopped and unleashed thousands of arrows into the Rebel ranks killing even more of them they fell like leaves on a tree.


Then the two armies clashed into a gory frenzy of haking and slashing.



Scince both sides had the same type of troops levies and peasants. Numbers were on the Polish side that easily began to rip apart the rebels so much that the left wing routed when the King and small detatchment of peasants over- whelmed them in one charge then Waldislaw eyeing an opertunity attacked the Rebels flanks causiing a mass route.


The Polish then killed many more Rebels and then turned on the Rebel general himself who despite split up from his cavalry body guard put up an heroric fight before being dragged of his horse and stabbed to death.



Then the remainder of the enemy cavalry routed and regrouped at the camp along with the other survivors and surrendered. they were hanged shortly afterward. It was the first of many victories to be won by the Polish in the years to come.

CONQUEST&AMBTION

The Siege of Thorn.

While Waldislaw won the Battle of Waldislaws Hill, his son Boleslaw was besieging Thorn. It's only defence was a wooden wall around it's castle.

"Men look at those things on the walls, they are traitors. And you know what the punishment for traitors are a good old Hanging". The men cheered and laughed and prepared for the worst.
They would face tough opposition, axe-men and crossbowmen defended the walls and they had others in the streets.

Boleslaw knew he could easily defeat this pathetic force of peasants but he would soon learn that numbers alone can't win battles.

The battle began as the Polish siege tower began to be pushed to the wals while at the same time some peasants took some ladders and began to climb an undefended part of the walls.

The Rebels retaliated by withering crossbow fire and burning down the siege tower.

Enraged by what he saw Boleslaw, ordered the ram to destroy the gates. By then fighting on the wall, first attacked by the Polish had begun, masses of men chopped and jabbed at each other unwilling to flee.

Then another set of ladders hit the walls. Mercinary spearmen and normal Polish troops climbed the ladders. The axe-men then attacked the Polish troops and a battle began between the spearmen and ordinary woodsmen.

By the time the ram had began, bashing the gates, it set on fire. It fell into pieces.Archers then went to attack the enemy with arrows.

Boleslaw was becoming, more angry everytime something bad, happenned to his troops. He then sent Polish Nobles to shower the enemy with missiles. The Nobles managed to rout several, Rebel troops off the walls giving, the Peasants on top the advantage. Then some spearmen in the confusion at the front wall opened the gates. And polish troops swarmed into the town.

Once the Polish troops had entered the town, street fighting accured as, the Rebel leader and a hand full of militia, attempted to stop Boleslaw who wanted, the Polish flag hanging over the castle walls. It was chaos as the walls were taken and the rebels despratly trying to hold on.

In the end it was futile the Rebel leader was slain along with the others. The survivors were given a public hanging at the pleasure of Boleslaw and the loyal citizens of Thorn. After the hanging the bodys were beheaded and thrown out of the town.

CONQUEST&AMBITION

The Vistula River.
After Boleslaw took control, of the Thorn reigon A small scale revolt, occured. These were Pagans since the reigon is dominatly Pagan. Boleslaw with a large army, forced the rebels back, across the river.The the two armies faced of on a large plain with trees scattered around the sides.

"It is time men to burn these Pagans and send them to HELL!", shouted Boleslaw. The men cheered and shouted BURN! BURN! BURN! BURN!.

The battle began, as the Polsish missile troops, Nobles and Militia attacked the Rebel lines. They inflicted huge losses, on the Rebels, because their only defence, was a group of strzcly, who were the only cavalry and missile attack force. They retaliated and shot down many Polish Nobles.

Then the Polish army, advanced ready to kill, the rebel force. Their infantry were outnumbered, and they had only one tough infantry unit, Mercinary spearmen. The majority of the infantry were peasants. Then the two armies clashed. They hacked, stabbed and jabbed each other, for only a few minutes, Boleslaw and his bodyguard, were also in the fray, causing the entire, Rebel force to rout, except for the cavalry.

The Rebel cavalry withdrew, fireing their crossbows, at the Polish Knights and Nobles chasing them. They then stopped and charged the Polish and killed many of the Polish but numbers finaly won the battle and the Rebels fled.

Later the Pagans were burned at the stake.

Meeting of the Council.

Poland made slow progress, expanding capturing only one reigon. Waldislaw then held, a meeting with the council. "My fellow councilors, the great expansion is going slower then I expected. I thought it would be quicker", said
Waldislaw. The room became filled with noise.
"How can we we're only human", called a Councilor.
"Well you will have to try better!", shouted Waldislaw.
"My lord may I have a suggestion", asked the War Minister calmly.
"Go on then", replyed the King angrily.
"This small motte and Baily castle called, Stettin is an easy target. If you capture it, you will be in a great position to expand west", told the War Minister.
"Excellant. All those in favour of taking the Castle say I!"
"I!"

BTW, there is no palace in Krakow, but great castle on the hill which is situated on the bank of the Vistula river and it's called Wawel.

CONQUEST&AMBITION

The Siege of Stettin.

Waldislaw then, marched his big force, to Stettin Knowing if he takes, the castle Poland will be in a great position.
He would camp, outside of the walls, for one month. Then he attacked the castle. "Men these Germans need to be killed. Send them to hell!". The men cheered, shouting and banging their weapons on their shields.

The Polish archers, crossbowmen and Nobles, rushed to rain arrows, bolts and javelins into the rebel ranks. Huge numbers, of German milita fell because, they were all unarmoured. Then the battering ram, was pushed up to the gate, followed by several hundred more troops. It suddenly turned foggy which mad all soldiers more anxious

The towers that were, behind the walls, fired arrows into the Polish ranks killing many. But the ram made, it to the gate and began, to break it down. After several minutes, the gate was destroyed. Polish infantry then rushed, through the breach, and engaged the Germans.

The fighting was, fierce with the Germans, being pushed back, but taking many polish down with them. It was bloody and chaotic. Away from all the, hacking and killing the, German archers fired fire arrows, in to the Polish ranks.

Polish archers and Mercinary Crossbowmen, retaliated killing, most of the German archers as well. Then disaster struck, the German leader, was killed by a polish peasant. The armies morale plummeted, and fell back to the town square ,where they fought until forced to surrender.

Well I don't know really there still are some rebels to the east and north I think I might go there.
