I think Putin is like a better version of Bush. He and russia shows a great dubble-moral. "I support Syria, But yet I don't"
I heard the Communist party was the 2nd largest in Russia, is there a chanc they might be the ruling party or a communist president will be elected?

It is the structures of Capitalism who make the class, race and gender struggles neccesary. I personally refuse to accept that I will have approximately 17% less money each month because I am Middle Eastern, I refuse to accept that if a girl is raped the rapist blames it on her clothing, and I refuse to accept that the working class is the slave of the modern society- thats why I believe in Socialism, thats why call myself a Feminist and thats why I am Anti-rascist.

I dunno, perhaps posting about how horrible your new tyrant is not a good start.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

Assassination. People always said that if only someone could have got to Stalin or Hitler before their worst crimes...Save the West the trouble of crushing the bastard (and probably you as one of his conscripts) in about 10-15 years from now in the inevitable cataclysm.

No, because Putin's approval rating hovers at 85% (I can't say I'd disapprove if asked, either, and this time I'm being serious) so whoever he endorses will almost surely be elected. I'd say Sergei Ivanov (also KGB man, ex minister of defense) is our next president and Dmitri Medvedev (young lawyer, considered runner up) our next Prime Minister.I heard the Communist party was the 2nd largest in Russia, is there a chanc they might be the ruling party or a communist president will be elected?
Only retirees and farmers vote for communists, and the creation of a new socialist party (Fair Russia) threatens to take over that voting bloc.
I'm just about to start crying.I don't know. You could remind him you're am American. Wont touch you.
That aside, just about the entire elite (or in my case, quasi-elite) sends their kids to be educated abroad.
Why should I be an exception?

It certainly has left you informed and balanced on all things Russian.
So there is a new Socialist party in Russia, Is it like Social democrats of Germany and Sweden or more, Socialist Socialist? And they are becoming the largest party or one of the largest in Russia?
But isn't this Putins last term? I mean, someone new must be elected 2008 right?

So many times meaning once when Germany, Ottoman empire and Austria defeated it once during WW1?

They claim to be social democrats, but I doubt they have any serious ideology behind them.So there is a new Socialist party in Russia, Is it like Social democrats of Germany and Sweden or more, Socialist Socialist?
There are no official opinion polls and the election campaign isn't fully under way yet, so it's hard to say.And they are becoming the largest party or one of the largest in Russia?
United Russia (the present ruling party) holds 46% of the vote at the present, and there's a 7% threshold for representation, so they will probably get a majority this time (as of now, they usually are helped to have a majority by the Liberal Democrats).
The Communist Party is the second most popular, with the Fair Russia and Liberal Democratic parties being tied for third place.
The rest (like the Agrarian party, the liberals and the far right) don't stand a chance.
Yes, and that someone will most likely by Ivanov, or maybe Medvedev. But isn't this Putins last term? I mean, someone new must be elected 2008 right?
Unless Putin goes back to his KGB roots and slips in a dark horse candidate (after all, he basically was one as well and mostly got elected because he successfully argued for waging the second Chechen war which had a positive ending).
Nice bit of Sarcasm Solidat, well its your choice who you want to be your next leader. Personally I'd vote for one that would allow the provinces to chose their governors. Plus one that would limit the power of the FSB, and the Oligarchs.

Well maybe Russia is a country that fits more for Social democratic rule, But if they don't have any serious goals I seriously doubt people would vote for them.
And what is the communists goals? creating a new russian dictatorship or Soviet union, or is it something else.
So the whole thing is between four parties. I don't understand, Sweden seems to be the only country where more than 5 parties are represented in the Parliament and everyone has a chance of winning ( when cooperating)
But if UNited russia wins, do you think they will coninue with the Military boost?

There isn't even a real choice anymore because only one group deserves the power.
They will tame but not destroy the oligarchs (to destroy them would be to destroy the economy) and they will keep regions from getting out of hand (like Chechnya did in the early 90s). Not to mention they seem to have some good free market economists on their side, as is evidenced by the 8% growth exhibited this year and the 6% average growth since 1998.
Their commitment to developing a high tech sector (rather successfully up to this point) to provide an economic base once the oil and gas runs out is also quite smart. Russia has also been visibly improving every year I come here.
What five years ago was a broken road, four years ago got a McDonald's. Then the road got fixed, the Church got restored, they built a parking garage, and through gradual development now it's a booming business area.
It's no secret that the first goal of every politician (and I'd say just about every human being) is personal benefit.Well maybe Russia is a country that fits more for Social democratic rule, But if they don't have any serious goals I seriously doubt people would vote for them.
In the 90s, they promised a return to the old ways. And what is the communists goals? creating a new russian dictatorship or Soviet union, or is it something else.
Then they became social democrats, and are now increasingly irrelevant.
Also they splintered into three parties (various degrees of extremity from social democrat to Stalinist).
We've been promised military reforms for 15 years, and only now are they starting to take effect. So the whole thing is between four parties. I don't understand, Sweden seems to be the only country where more than 5 parties are represented in the Parliament and everyone has a chance of winning ( when cooperating)

The army is gradually more and more professional (as opposed to conscripted) and better armed.
I imagine if the economy keeps growing, army reform will follow, but the nation is still a long way from bliss.
Russian, but I support the Serbs in their desire to keep Kosovo.Russki Soldat, Are you Serbian or Russian?
Not only is personal bias in play, but I believe that NATO asserting that it has the right to step into a random country and tear it to pieces does not set a good precedent.
Every country in the world, minus Russia and Serbia, including the people of Kosovo, want Kosovo to be independant. Russia merely dislikes the idea of a pro-west country in her area of control. Perceived area of control, in any case.
The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.
