What version of IE and what OS are you using? One obvious solution is to start using Firefox instead of IE...

I would check for spyware and such, and install firefox.

    Spybot Search and destroy:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

download/install and run this program - assuming you haven't already got it that is. It checks your computer for spyware and other such browser hijackers.

    Also firefox:
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

A free alternative to microsofts internet explorer - tends to be much more secure, has a few more features you can download any number of free extensions

I would recommend just switching to Firefox (or Opera, which is in some ways superior).

Some scripts have been known to crash IE5 when used together with certain versions of Flashplayer... Especially when using Mac/OS.
