Kosovo- Serbias heart or Albanian wishes.

I have a friend from KOsovo, and one from Serbia. Both having great statements about Kosovo. my Kosovo albanian friend held a speech at english class about Kosovo and my Serbian friend ( not in my school) held a speech about kosovo, from the Serbian version to me.

I am confused myself. I support both. I mean Kosovo is 90% Muslim Albanian. and because of that, and that the people doesn't want to belong to Serbia I support it's independence.

But Serbia says Kosovo is theirs as the first Serbian country was located there and it has since always belonged to Serbia when gaining independence. in one way Kosovo is the heart of Serbia.

I want to hear what other thinks and I would apprecieate your answers and suggestions.

Imagine yourself as a Kosovo Albanian. Living in Kosovo seeing Serbs killing your relatives just because you are Muslims and Albanians, Not like them and wants independence through peace. Would you like to belong to Serbia?
Would you like to be sentenced for life in prison?

Either bring back Yugoslavia, or let the Kosovo go free. Anything else makes zero sense. It doesn't make sense to let every ethnic group in the Balkans have their own little spot and then expect the Kosovans to go back into the Serbian fold.

Yes the Californians should. Im a firm believer in self-determination. Hence I support the people of Kosovo.

It doesn't make sense to let every ethnic group in the Balkans have their own little spot and then expect the Kosovans to go back into the Serbian fold.

Honestly, Serbia allows Montenegro to go, a place with a Serbian national heritage, yet not Kosovo? Hypocrisy.

And there comes my support for Serbia. According to them Kosovo is their heart, were their culture rose and a home to Serbians, according to them, as their country was divided for a long time between ottoman empire and Austria muslims living there are a result of ethnic cleansing from the Ottomans. They suggest that Albanians go to Turkey or Albania or that they shoul live side by side with Serbians. Their neighbour should either seek comfort with their own relatives, or stay and try to live together as a married couple.

No if christians wanted independence in egypt i would dissaprove. You cant simply just tear countries apart because you do not want to belong there. There has to be a real reason. In the american civil war the south left because of the idea that the states were free to leave and join the union and that the federal government had no say in it. That makes sense, they lost, but it had a real reason behind it.
Honestly i do not feel this is a religious issue in the sense you are referring to. This is more of a culture issue. Group B lives in group A's country. Group B hates it so wants to make their own country and take part of group A's country.
Would there in all honesty be any benefit from the separation? There is a reason we form countries, otherwise we would still be in the days of city states. -Leon

yeah there comes another point- their cultures are different and I think that's the main reason, Albanians speak Albanian, it is not like Serbian, and they are living with other traditions.
