Which leads me to the question, are there any good mods you can reccomend about/where you can go Ancient Greece/Sparta? Particularly the Spartens I find them a rather interesting bunch.

In my opinion, this is the best and most Spartan-focused mod there is,

but two more excellent Greek focused mods are XGM and Diadochi.

Owning BI & Alexander is never a BAD idea, as there are tons of mods that require both-spanning the time frame from The Homeric Age to Napolean's time. Also, Tolkien based mods like 4th Age and other non-historical masterpieces like both End Of Days mods.
The vanillas aren't bad at all either, but I rarely play them anymore.
