PREVIEW: v. 4.0
After a small brake working with Blue & Grey team for version 2.1, here I am again continuing the development of ACW 4.0 version, which now should be called TCW 4.0. The knowledge and the experience so far about making custom starting positions, got me to a point where I can make changes using more game scripting than manual and hybrid changes in startpos. In this way I am able to make more changes while the files remain stable enough.

In 4.0 beta release 3 campaigns for CSA are included. The first one is the classic starting position. The second is a non historical starting position for a mission campaign, following an old idea of Primergy. In this scenario CSA owns only Virginia and Carolina. The rest south regions belongs to Lower South Confederation (LSC), a new faction which is protectorate of CSA, while Texas is occupied by Mexico. In the first turns of campaign a mission is generated for CSA and if it is a success LSC will join CSA and campaign will return in historical trails. It is a very challenging campaign and that is the reason I have not released beta yet, since I am trying to find a good balance. The third one will be 1 or 2 campaign for Warpath map (it is to be decided).
For stability reasons these campaigns are for playing as CSA. A deferent file set will be delivered soon with US campaigns. Also only campaign mode will be available while for skirmish and custom battles you have to install the excellent The Blue and The Grey mod.
As in released CS campaigns 3 US campaigns will be available: 2 classic for Grand and Warpath campaigns and one mission campaign. Mission campaign will be some how different than the one of CSA. There will be some factions-states present as well which will join in some point either Union or Confederate. It is planned to be introduced:
Northern States of America (NSA) which will include all the northern border states from Maine to Illinois.
*
Maryland
*
Kentucky
*
Missouri
*
Texas
*
Tennessee
*
Georgia
*
N & S Carolinas
*
Florida
*
Louisiana
In campaign there will be also present Fort Sumter garrisoned by Major Robert Anderson and his men in the hostile territory of seceded N & S Carolina State:
Features:
* New starting position coded in a new way.
* Scripting mission campaign.
* New mod launcher, even more powerful and friendly for the player.
* Civil War Chronicles.
* New menu video and loading screens based on real photos from Civil War.
* Starting date March 1860.
* 12 turns/year.
* All dates have been changed accordingly for all factions, characters, and units.
* Historical government members and portraits.
* Eight historical starting US generals plus one admiral
* Six historical starting CSA generals.
* CSA and US have the same number of major cities, total 3 for each faction.
* Added generic portraits for European generals, gentlemen, ministers and rakes.
* Models for most common European units have been changed. For the moment the icons are the same but as you will see in battlefield the models are different.
* New AI for campaign and battle. I've made a new AI which is already tested for some time now in SD2 mod whit great results. It is a combination of the best elements of existing AI modifications that can be found in TWC forums, plus some changes of mine especially for TCW campaigns.
* All factions are enforced so TCW campaign will be no more a walk on the park. On the contrary campaign will be very challenging even in standard level of difficulty.
