I voted Taras because they sound like an interesting faction to conquer Italy with and they're the only colony of Sparta. I can crush the Crotonians and the Locrians then ally( or attack) Syracuse.

Syracuse for sure. It has always been one of my favourite city states in ancient times.

I can't vote. Why?
I would like to vote Thessaly (althought the team hasn't make the preview yet) because it's the place where I'm going for holidays the last 18 years and I love it. Actually in Pilion mountain which is also known as the "Centaurs mountain". And I'm realy appreciate that Hegemonia choses a Centaur to be the symbol of the fraction.

after testing some factions during 10 turns :

- cretans have really difficult position. after conquest of the island, they have very strong force in west (sparta) and strong force in east (rhodians) + persians who will come
- Rhodians are really interesting to play. fight in east (and against persians) and/or in sicily (with strong rhodian colonies).
- sparta have good position but how to attack the continent after conquest of peloponesis ?
- argos is the most difficult faction. good luck to fight sparta and corinth !!
- Thebes and athens have the same chance in the begining. the first fight will decide of all...
- thessaly and macedonia have time to grow.
- locrians need to choose between thebes or athens as allies.

PS: don't ask beta now. it's the first test with building.

I guess I'll play Sparta out of the Greeks first because, well, they're the Spartans. But I voted for Boeotia because those Thespians are going to be awesome!

you can recruit thespians with spartans and other factions too... but only in Thespies !!

Well that will be Athens.
Athenians first resisted and drove the Persians off Attica and Greece and Athenian Navy played the decisive role in the second Persian attack (480 BC naval battle of Salamis). It was also only Athenians and Spartans that actually fought at Plataies. Athens' rise to the peak from 479 BC and until its fall (404 BC) is so dramatic.
The Athenians tryed to lead the Greeks and fight back the Persians but somewhere
in the way they just lost it. Their so called democracy ,had become a tyranny to all non Athenians (reminds you something of today's world power?)
and they destructed themselves if not the Spartans. But the thing is that the monuments of this golden era of Athens are not fictional. You can see them yourself if you just look out of the window from the city which I live in -Athens.
