The candidates for every field of work should be self-motivated, capable of working in a team and experienced in the desired area of work.
General requirements:
willing to register on Trello for purposes of collaboration
a working e-mail adress
an active Steam account
ability to work at least two days a week
proper English language skills
volition to push the project forward
no hesitation to enter new environments in the world of game development and game modification
huge interest in the universe of "The Lord of the Rings"
General preferences:
experience in working on a free (not paid) project
previous game modding experience

Fields of work
3D Character Artists
In our team, 3D Character Artists are one of the key roles in high-quality content generation. A big focus is laying on the creation of complete new, fully fleshed out factions while hundreds of units, all unique and special, need to be created for them. As a member of the Character Artist team you will bring a faction to life with a variety of custom, fully new units.
Requirements
- basic knowledge of 3ds Max, ZBrush/Mudbox and Photoshop
- understanding of the High-To-Low-Poly-Workflow and normal map creation
- PBR texturing skills
- passion to create the highest content quality possible
- willing to strengthen the existing modelling and texturing skills
- experience in rigging biped skeletons
- ability to work with content creation guidelines and concepts
Preferences
- previous modding experience in Total War games
- fast familiarisation with the Total War modding environment
3D Building / Environment Artists
3D Building / Environment Artists are generating the content for the project which is needed to rebuild parts of Middle-Earth on complete custom and detailed battlemaps. As a member of the Building / Environment Artist team you will not only create generic houses for small towns in Middle-Earth but also famous buildings like Barad-Dur or Helms Deep. Special vegetation like the White Tree is required, too.
Requirements
- basic knowledge of 3ds Max (, ZBrush/Mudbox) and Photoshop

As the ModDB Web Developer you will change the visual appearance of our ModDB website. Let's create something beautiful for our home!

- willing to strengthen the existing programming skills
- ability to realize individual ideas
Preferences
- previous customisation of a ModDB page
- experience in using CSS / HTML

Recruitment for Rise of Mordor has now been re-opened.
In addition to the three types of positions detailed above, we are also looking for Character Animators.
This position would involve creating animations, possibly from scratch, for a wide range of units such as wargs, mumakil, trolls, orcs and much much more.
The requirements for this position would be the ability to create new animations, and an existing portfolio. You would also need a Trello account.
The preferences would be previous modding experience in Total War games and the ability to have fast familiarisation with the Total War modding environment

RoM team is looking for a beginner 3d artist: VACATION IS CLOSED
Requirements:
- 3ds Max beginner level knowledge;
- Adobe Photoshop/GIMP beginner level knowledge;
- Total War ATTILA Assembly Kit installed;
- Enough free time. Please note, people who have problems with motivation better do not send me your applications.
You will be given all video/text instructions and files.
Benefits:
- RoM will be developed and shipped faster;
- You will learn a lot skills from our artists;
- You will have an access to the mod files;
- You will get a picture how the development goes.
Please, do not hesitate to send your application if you have some basic skills, it should be enough. But mind yourself, if you send us an application you will have to keep your deadline done in time otherwise you'll be kicked.

Our team is looking for a beginner 3d modeller. Your task will be to optimise Isengard assets. Since we're looking only for one person, we will choose the best available.
Prerequisites:
- basic knowledge of 3ds max
- understanding of how materials are set up in material editor
- know these common tools: cut, collapse, remove (with different shortcuts), weld, target weld, break, connect
- know what smoothing groups are
- know how to unwrap / fix UV maps
- know how to rig/weight vertices to bones

- get an access to RoM models
- get to know the unit creation pipeline
- improve you skills
We've had this practice in past, we recruited 2 beginner 3d modellers to optimise gondor and dale units. Now these guys are working on architecture and own units.
