It is possible, mods like Rise of the Three Kingdoms ported some assets from a RTW mod, but I don't know where to start, ask in their sub-forum or search for tutorials

That looks great, one of the problems with this mod is the lack of custom settlements, it really breaks immersion. I'll have to try that version after I finish my current campaign.
