Thread: Lying Representative Santos of New York and other hypocrites

Rep. George Santos, who initially denied claims that he performed as a drag queen, later appeared to admit that he once had fun at a festival dressing as a woman.
Recently surfaced videos, however, seem to suggest that Santos dressed as his drag persona over a period of at least three years, casting doubt on his claim that it was a one-off occurrence.
The allegations of Santos performing in drag first emerged last week, when freelance journalist Marisa Kabas broke the story in a Substack post.

This is the time for the GOP to cut him loose. McCarthy already said he’s to be investigated by the ethics committee so there’s no pivot needed. Yet another cross dresser in the federal government found to have severe mental problems that disqualify him from office. I never thought I’d have to weigh the merits of one who lies vs one who lies, steals and is open about his fetish for bestiality. But I guess that’s clown world. If nothing else, seeing the Democrats do a 180 and claim it was Republicans who hated Santos all along like they tried to claim with cops would be pay per view television if I ever saw it. “He lied because he hated who he was and he was lying to himself. He tried to conform to the white supremacist cis normative paradigm and inadvertently exposed its moral bankruptcy. That’s why you have to vote blue to save America from the inbred nazis.”

Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

No, your obsession with trans people has nothing to do with it. Seriously, did a trans person break your heart or something?

It's just like when a Republican who claims abortion is murder and calls for outlawing it with no exceptions is found to have paid for several of them. Or a Republican who preaches that homosexuality is an unforgivable sin is caught soliciting other men in a public bathroom. Or who claims that gun owners need to open carry in churches and preschools but strictly bans guns from his rallies.

To call Republicans unprincipled hypocrites is being too generous. They are always lying when they claim to have deeply held beliefs, will drop those beliefs the moment it is inconvenient to hold them, could never even imagine what it would be like to have integrity (IE be a liberal), and are motivated solely by greed and lust for power.

    Santos is trans?

You are assuming he's trans in your screed, in an attempt to derail to prevent anyone from seeing your party's hypocrisy in being perfectly fine with one of their own doing something they claim is a terrible crime when done by others. It didn't work though.

I’ve no information confirming your theory that drag queens are all transgender, but then, Russia has been on the verge of launching an invasion of the US supported by the GOP for years now, and I’ve yet to see any evidence of that either.

That was a good one too, but he didn't get elected. He lost with MUCH narrower margin than I would want, than any sane person would want, but he lost.

Oh, come on now! That's too harsh! Soon you will claim that many elected Republican representatives that shout about liberty and the need of guns to protect ourselves from the eeeevuuuul government would stand behind a coup attempt!

Walker wasn't alone in his abortion hypocrisy:

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-evil-for-thee

Meet Scott Lloyd, the head of the Office of Refugee Resettlement; in theory he’s responsible for supporting refugees build a better life in America by providing them with financial and medical assistance. Under previous administrations, this included abortion services. But we live in a God-fearing America now, and Lloyd has made it his mission to ensure refugee women, including unaccompanied minors, don’t get abortions. He even blocked a 17-year-old-girl who had been raped from having an abortion. “The child – the one who is destroyed – is not an aggressor,” he argued in a report. No Scott, the child isn’t an aggressor; you are.

As Mother Jones reported this week, despite his patronizing proselytizing, Lloyd doesn’t always practice what he preaches. As a young man he drove an ex-girlfriend to get an abortion and paid for half of it.
Lloyd joins an illustrious list of Republicans whose stance on abortion is basically: “It’s OK for me; evil for thee.” Earlier this year, for example, it emerged that Elliot Broidy, the former RNC deputy finance chairman paid $1.6m to a Playboy Playmate he had an affair with, after she aborted his child.
Then there is Tim Murphy, the pro-life Pennsylvania Republican who resigned last year after it was revealed he had urged his mistress to consider an abortion. And let’s not forget the charming Scott DesJarlais. According to testimony during his divorce trial, the Tennessee congressman supported his ex-wife's decision to get two abortions before their marriage. The former doctor also allegedly pressured a 24-year-old patient he was having an affair with to get an abortion. Even after all that information came out DesJarlais still had the gall to vote for anti-abortion bills and boast of having a “100% pro-life voting record."

A woman alleges that Oregon Republican congressional candidate Mike Erickson paid for her abortion in 2001. However, the multimillionaire businessman refuses to admit it, saying only that he gave her $300 and drove her to a “doctor’s office” in Portland, Oregon. He maintains that he had no idea what kind of medical appointment it was.
Who was that? I don't doubt there are some, but none comes to mind and I would like to know who.
There have been many Republicans caught with or soliciting men:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Craig_scandal

On June 11, 2007, Craig was arrested at the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport on suspicion of disorderly conduct.[5] The nature of the alleged activity has been categorized by some as cottaging.[6] According to the police report, the police officer sat in a bathroom stall as part of an undercover operation investigating complaints of sexual activity in the restroom. After about 13 minutes of sitting in the stall, the police officer observed Craig lingering outside and frequently peeking through the crack of the door on the stall. Craig then entered the stall to the left of the officer's stall. The police officer made the following observations, which he recorded in his report of the incident, as to what happened next:
At 1216 hours, Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moves his foot closer to my foot. ... The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot which was within my stall area. Craig then proceeded to swipe his left hand under the stall divider several times, with the palm of his hand facing upward.[5]
He also used campaign funds to pay for his defense.

The last one is a list of 20 more.

    As for guns:

    https://www.npr.org/2022/05/25/11011...banned-houston

Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at the National Rifle Association's Annual Leadership Forum on Friday. But audience members at the group's annual meeting, being held this year in Houston, won't be able to carry guns during his address.
The conference is going ahead in the shadow of Tuesday's mass shooting at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school that killed at least 21 people — including 19 students.
According to the NRA, the Secret Service is taking control of the hall during Trump's speech and is prohibiting attendees from having firearms, firearms accessories and knives. Ammunition, laser pointers, pepper spray, toy guns, backpacks and other items also won't be allowed.
The Secret Service will search attendees with magnetometers before they enter the hall, the NRA said.
This isn't the first time firearms have been off-limits during a part of the gun group's annual convention. In 2018 a similar prohibition was put in place during a speech by then-Vice President Mike Pence.
    https://www.businessinsider.com/guns...esantis-2022-8

"The Buffalo guy said he wanted to go where he knew there wouldn't be blowback from people being armed, and so he tried to find a gun-free zone," DeSantis said.
But at rallies set to take place this month in Arizona, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, featuring Gov. DeSantis as the star speaker, firearms will be strictly prohibited — and not by liberals.
Dubbed "Unite & Win" rallies, the events are being put on by Turning Point Action — the political advocacy arm of Turning Point USA, led by right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk — and will feature DeSantis alongside local Republicans hoping to win elections in November, including Pennsylvania's Doug Mastriano, Arizona's Kari Lake and Blake Masters, and Ohio's J.D. Vance.
Attendees should be prepared for "airport-like screening," according to listings for the events posted by Turning Point Action on EventBrite, where would-be guests are encouraged to request tickets. Security will be turning away the visibly intoxicated, according to the listing, as well as also for the following prohibited items: "ammunition, knives, projectiles, pepper spray, expandable batons, [and] firearms."
The listing notes that there is to be "NO CCW," or concealed weapons, "in Event Zone."

Another GOP politician claiming Jewish heritage...turns out to be a granddaughter of a Nazi. Meet Anna Paulina Luna of Florida

The details in a Friday report by The Washington Post contradicted Luna's previous claims of Jewish heritage. Luna's mother, Monica Luna, said that the Republican's father George Mayerhofer—who Luna and other family members said was a drug addict—was a Christian who embraced the Messianic faith...

Additionally, the report by the Post further revealed that Luna reportedly had Nazi roots, with several family members saying that Heinrich Mayerhofer, who died in 2003, served in the armed forces of Nazi Germany when he was a teenager in the 1940s.

Luna's uncle, Edward Mayerhofer, gave the newspaper what he said was a picture of his father Heinrich dressed in a uniform as a young soldier in Germany. The photo was reviewed by experts at the Simon Wiesenthal Center who confirmed that Heinrich's uniform matched that of a member of the Wehrmacht, the military of Nazi Germany.
While she lies about her life story, Anthony Ogles of Tenessee lies about his resume, dubiously claiming to be an economist, a cop, and an international sex crimes expert.

If you believe Middle Tennessee's newest congressman, he's not only a businessman, he's also an economist, a nationally recognized expert in tax policy and health care, a trained police officer, even an expert in international sex crimes.

Yet, the school refused to confirm Ogles' degree, citing a provision of federal law that allows students to block the release of their educational credentials.
So why would Congressman Ogles not want Tennessee voters to be able to verify that he is who he claims to be?

Then, there are Ogles' claims to be a trained police officer and international sex crimes expert.

Records show he lost that position two years later for not meeting minimum standards, making no progress in field training and failure to attend required meetings.

Looks like George Anthony Devolder Santos has started a trend of politicians fabricating their entire life stories and careers, we should call it the Fictional Caucus.

Luna claimed that she is “a small fraction Ashkenazi”, which is not particularly unlikely. Being primarily of Mexican ancestry, it’s also quite likely that she has some small fraction of Sephardi ancestry. She has further claimed that her former drug addict father attended a Messianic Jewish church after he got clean. That could be a lie, but then such churches are known to be filled with Latinos who have discovered that they have some Jewish ancestry, so it’s also not far-fetched. When she said she was “raised as a Messianic Jew”, that was probably an exaggeration, but from a Jewish perspective, it’s completely irrelevant, since Messianic Jews are Christians, and are not considered Jewish unless they have a Jewish mother.

Now I wouldn’t be surprised about any politician lying about his or her past for political benefit, but if Luna is lying and/or exaggerating, it falls more into the typical. As in the same type of lies/exaggerations we’ve seen from the likes of Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden, rather than something more extreme like this George Santos character. The story about Luna also appeared in the Israeli media. The general reaction as far as I could gage was “who cares”, with some noting that if there is an actual issue, it’s Luna’s relationship with Marjorie Taylor Greene. Personally, I think her great grandmother in that Arizona Daily Star article looks unmistakably Jewish.

She is not just morally suspect. She must be held responsible for her grandfather's actions. You don't seem be familiar with how blood guilt works in leftist thought...

I began to wonder why you would seek to excuse this descendant of nazis, then I noticed that "sumskilz" has 8 letters in it. Not only does it have 8 letters, it is plural (and using a 'z' to represent the plural, what other word here uses a 'z' in it), and the plural of eight is eights. As in two eights. 88.

Sumskilz, the point is not that she's the relative of a German soldier. The point is that she said she's Jewish when she is the relative of a German soldier.

    That conclusion is a non-sequitur.

She never claimed to be Jewish. She claimed to be an evangelical Christian with “a small fraction” of Ashkenazi ancestry, and there isn’t any reason to doubt that. She didn’t claim that her “small fraction” of Ashkenazi ancestry is from her German grandfather.

The journalistic gotcha is derived from two non-sequiturs, ignorance, and the implication that one carries the alleged sins of their grandfather. The journalists who dug into her family history presumably don’t like her politics, fine, but that doesn’t make their conclusions any less non-sensical.

You could be forgiven for not understanding that Messianic Judaism is an Evangelical Christian movement and that being involved in a Messianic Jewish church doesn’t necessarily imply any Jewish ancestry, but I did already explain that in the post you initially responded to. What it does imply is a degree of affinity to Jewish culture, Jewish traditions, and Israel, which is no doubt why she brought it up when speaking to the Jewish Insider (who would have understood this). She even made it clear in the same interview that her own ancestry was only “a small fraction” Jewish. Her mother backed this claim up, and assuming that the claims of her father’s estranged relatives that her father was Catholic means that she and her mother are lying is the other non-sequitur. Her father probably was raised Catholic, but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t later get involved in a Messianic Jewish church, which is irrelevant anyway about any claim of Jewish ancestry.

    And yet again: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/go...3d2fdbad&ei=64

Republican Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, who wants to make drag performances in his state felonies, appeared angry after being confronted with a photo of himself in drag.
Tennessee's Republican-led legislature last week voted to pass a bill that would make it a felony to perform as a "male or female impersonator" in an "adult cabaret performance" on public property or anywhere the entertainment "could be viewed by a person who is not an adult."
A video shared on social media by progressive news site The Tennessee Holler shows Lee telling reporters outside a school on Monday that he intends to sign the legislation, one of several Republican state bills that would ban drag.
The governor's mood shifted and he appeared to become angry after a Holler reporter asked him if he remembered a photo of himself dressed as a female cheerleader in his 1977 high school yearbook.
"What a ridiculous, ridiculous question that is!" Lee said. "Conflating something like that to sexualized entertainment in front of children! Which is a very serious subject."
Lee went on to say that he was concerned about "children that are potentially exposed to sexualized entertainment, to obscenity." The reporter later asked Lee about the photo again, getting no response when asking him if drag is "only illegal when gay people do it."

The photo of Lee surfaced in a Reddit post over the weekend and likely shows Lee taking part in the tradition of a "powderpuff football game," which involves male and female students crossdressing, according to NBC News.

Just remember the golden rule: If a Republican is campaigning against something, it is a near certainty they indulge in whatever that thing is.

Also his petulant, whiny attempts at deflection are very telling. He's furious that the little people dare expect HIM to live up to standards he believes should otherwise be universal. Republicans really do consider themselves an aristocracy who are not subject to the rules they expect "lessers" to live by, as might be found in pre-revolutionary France or modern Russia.

    Yes they are.
In Russia the state doesn't have an official database for those that write blogs about Putin. They are powerless anyway. There are people criticizing Putin and all but they don't get positions in the TV. If journalists dig up actual damaging info for Putin, their life-expectancy is shorter but that, horrible as it is, is not done often. More or less people criticize Putin in Russia without having to register and pay fines.

    You are thinking North Korea.

That law has no chance to pass as it is 100% against free speech, which is in the constitution.

It being against the constitution is not be all end all it once would have been. The supreme court is so captured/tilted towards the right that they will enteratin stuff like this even if it would have got thrown out in any other court.
