    1) have you got bi upgraded to 1.6?

    2) have you installed the first crusader battlepack?

    3) did you install the patch? correctly?

    4) well, if you did install correctly, it shouldn't work. That's because you have to download the txt file needed to make the patch work. I know it's quite odd, but i'm uploading a -hopefully- working version of the patch right now.

Everythingh you need to download is available at

sorry - but I never saw a mod which is so un-user-friendly to install like this one! after installing the hole sh... for the forth time I still get CTD after the white loading screen with the crusader. after waiting for months for this mode, I'm really disappointed!

    - so I installed a fresh RTW and a the BI addon
    - patched BI to version 1.6
    - installed the battle pack 0.6
    - then on the CTW homepage its written that I have to insert the export_descr_buildings.txt file - but WHERE? BI datafolder or in the vanilla datafolder?
    - since the link for the patch 0.6.2 on your homepage doesn't work I downloaded then the patch 0.6.5 from this site
    - after all: CTD like above mentioned

so I hope I make somewhere a mistake (?). but I can't understand, that all you great moders make a mode like this one and then you are not able, to make an easy installment. since a lot of others gamers have the same problem like me, I assume, you will loose a lot of them to try the mode. this is definitively not the honor that a great mode like yours deserves!

this is no offence, I only can't understand. maybe someone can make a step by step instruction?

it's only my fault. I zipped the export_descr_building file outside the bi\data folder.
just open the archive, and you'll find the file. Put it in bi\data.
    done.

If i try to start the campaign game, or a historacle battle, the game just returns to the menu:S
    What should i do?

There is neither a campaign (thatīs why itīs called battlepack, after all) nor, to the best of my knowledge, are there historical battles.

but wouldn't it just be smart to just make the campaign for some people who can't run mtw2??
I mean I can run mtw2 but i would be nice to play a new medieval total war, even if your pc isn't good enough for mtw2.
ow, btw this mod is great

Yes, it would be smart, and it would be great if somebody made them, the problem is the "somebody".

    Greek302's guide to all errors

Hello, I'm greek302 one of the skinners for CTW

I'd like to write this little guide about errors,

Lets say you start up RTW: CTW but you see no change from the original game. Its extremly likey that that you did not install files to the correct directory. Make sure that the files you download are installed into the files that you are running the game off of. A very common error is that the files have been told (or you have been told to install them) in a Activision directory and you game actualy runs off a different directory. So be sure to check installation directories.

Now, lets say you start up the game and it crashes but you see a CTW screen. This probably means that the the files for the startup or main screen are not in place so try this list (Look at bottom of post)

95% of probelms can be avoided by following these measures

    1. Unisnstall RTW and BI completely ( Including any leftover files in Crogram files )
    2. Install RTW and then BI (Install them to C:/program files/activison[or whatever directory the mod runs off])
    3. Patch them to the version the mod was built off (some version of the game come pre-patched so make sure to check the patch level out becuase you may need to manually uninstall a patch)
    4. Install the mod (make sure to SELECT THE CORRECT DIRECTORY)
    5. Run the game

    Enjoy...
