Thread: Rome unit Pack (10/14/13)

Okay changed roman archers to only be built at lvl 2-4 auxiliary barracks and require the "training reforms" research. The upgrade from roman archers to archer auxilia now requires "remuneration reforms" research.

Can someone give me a short description, how and in which folder/data I have to install/put this mod?
I have download it and extract it in the folder: C:/Programme (86x)/steam/steamapps/common/Total War Rome 2/ data. But nothing happens. Can someone help me?
I donīt have use "mod manager".
And second question, is this mod savegame compatible?

@Pallas, you are correct in the placement of the mod files, but you will need to force the game to use the mod, which is easily achieved with the mod manager. This mod should work just fine with saved games.

I have a new version to try out which includes "light Auxilia", which are an auxilia version of the Velites that they replace once you have researched remuneration reforms.

the only one of these units I think that's worth seeing is the archer auxilia, but only after the "professional reforms" tech. Urban cohort could be around in Polybian armour, but as a garrison unit for province capitals instead of recruitable. surely it doesn't even make sense to see a unit named "urban cohort" fighting in the field.

Update with light cavalry auxilia(mounted javelin throwers).

Light Auxilia & Light Cavalry Auxilia

    Light Auxilia replace Velites
Both are unlocked by remuneration reforms
Light Cavalry Auxilia is recruited from Auxiliary barracks lvl 3-4

I figured out the why people have been experiencing a crash when they try to do custom battles; ultimately it has to do with the number of units for Rome in custom battles. If you already had Rome as the default army in custom battles it worked fine, but changing an army to Rome afterwards caused a run time error. To counter this issue I have removed all of the mercenary and addition auxiliary units(ones already in game but not in custom battles) I had added.

    Hello,

maybe you could create a praetorian archer unit with a skin like the praetorians with this skin

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...atus-bodyguard

    This would be nice

The praetorian archer idea is not bad, so I will see what I can do this weekend. I will probably not create new or modify existing textures; the re-texture mods generally changed the original textures, so if you happen to use one of them, my units should automatically have the modified texture.

Very nice work, I especially liked the Aux Cavalry Archers. It is nice not to have to farm out your recruitment to the provinces in order to get mobile archers. I look forward to what comes next.

Urban Cohort have now been set to take two turns to create, and a campaign limit of 8; I haven't tested either of these yet in a campaign.

Nice work, the archers look great like all other of your units...if got simply one problem but that will be a problem of my game that at least no name of the new units is showen

I am pretty sure that has to do with how the game deals with localization provided your not playing the game in English. I will see if I can update things so they will appear for other languages, and later try to get them translated.

A cataphract unit for rome would be cool. Also larger ships for the navy.

You've got to have a chariot unit in........ would be cool as an Elite unit to a limit of 1 or 2. Could be a cool idea to have specialist legion unit per region to have say different colour uniform. Like a cavalry unit in the Spanish area. aux-heavy infantry unit in Gaul area etc. I'm sure you get the idea........ That been said, can't see why you couldn't have an unlocked unit per faction for when taking a specific area or " wonder of the world". It is a game of allowing Sparta in England, "Blue Spartans" lol

Hey mcshooterz, great work so far!

I would like to make a few suggestions in relation to units so that I can inject a small amount of historical accuracy into my Rome 2 experience.

    I. Socii Principes, Triarii, and Velites - the socii alae (Italian allied army) was supposedly more-or-less identical to the Roman Manipular Legion in regards to their weapons/armor and unit types. The vanilla game accounts for socii versions of the Hastati and Equites (along with the Extrordinarii) but nothing else. If you make socii versions of those three unit types that would be awesome.

II. Auxiliae Infantry - the vanilla version of these units seems to follow the potential misconception that auxiliary infantry of the Imperial era used spears. While it's entirely possible that they could have done so in some cases, historical sources tell us that the auxiliary infantry were outfitted just like the Legionaries - i.e. they wore the lorica hamata (chainmail), used the metal Legionary helmet (or something similar), and carried the gladius. If you could simply change the unit to use a sword instead of a spear (I believe the use of the oval shield is still correct) that would enough for me.

III. Praetorians - the actual unit you can leave as is, what I'm looking for is to be able to make the Praetorians, Praetorian Guard, and Praetorian Cavalry eligible as General's bodyguard units.

If you could make these changes/additions I would be incredibly grateful. I do ask however that these changes be placed in a separate download file that you can either post on here or send to me via PM.

    I'm definitely liking the feedback.

I am planning on working on auxiliary chariots next, and if there doesn't exist a auxiliary cataphract now I will make one.

The Socii Principes, Triarii, and Velites should be no problem, just copy the old versions, but assign them to auxiliary barracks.

I can make a sword version of the auxiliary infantry.

Praetorians as general units will be easy enough.
