I watched Contact for the first time the other night. Really good movie. And the opening was surprisingly profound.

In general, a remake is mediocre and loses the intensity of the original, but check out the opening sequence.
The innovative intro of Fight Club sets the tone for the film masterpiece.
Look up the ill fate of lesbians in the Arts, a subject in women's studies classes, even featured in the Watchmen.
