Oh, have you seen Jodorowsky's Dune by any chance ? They mentioned this scene as an inspiration, which was cool as both films had a completely different style and treated completely different subjects.

I watched Contact for the first time the other night. Really good movie. And the opening was surprisingly profound.

In general, a remake is mediocre and loses the intensity of the original, but check out the opening sequence.

The innovative intro of Fight Club sets the tone for the film masterpiece.
