Thread: Issues with Milkshape 3D and KE Variant Mesh Converter

Default Issues with Milkshape 3D and KE Variant Mesh Converter

I've been running into an issue with trying to modify models in Milkshape and put them back into the game.

Going through the steps using Hussars as an example.
    1. Use Pack File Manager to export "euro_hussars_lod1.variant_weighted_mesh"
    1. I convert the variant mesh file into an .m3d
    2. Load up the model in Milkshape and hide hat1, leaving only hat2
    3. Convert the .m3d back into a variant mesh file
    4. Import the variant mesh file into my packfile
    5. Put packfile into the data folder.
    6. Unit appears ingame with the correct hat, but now the texture quality has degraded (Face looks muddy and texture looks lower res)

Even if I make 0 modifications to the model, just the act of converting the model to a .m3d and back is enough to cause the issue. All other lods are unaffected.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm currently using Version 1.3 of the KE converter and 1.8.5 for Milkshape

*Slight correction. I'm using 1.8.2 of Milkshape. Not 1.8.5. My mistake.

Hmm, i dunno. Maybe you need work with textures. You know what, maybe try UU3D programm. I can't tell nothing more. It cost 60 bucks. Or you know what, you can make an experiment. I have UU3d. Send me the file you need and I will convert it back and forth. If textures will be all right - then fine.
