Information Thread for Potential Dwarven UnitsThe Dwarf people as a whole are sturdy and strong, brilliant craftsmen and excellent warriors, but above all they prize themselves on their loyalty to each other and to those they are indebted to. This strong bond of kinship has ensured that the Dwarfs are considered amongst the most united races in the face of the world. They are known far and wide as the greatest miners and tunnelers in the world, the ageless halls of Karaz-a-karak are but one gigantic example of how huge their works can become. As expected, the Dwarfs are highly proficient smiths and craftsmen, capable of producing works far more beautiful than the Elven metalworkers in far Ulthuan and hundreds of times more valuable than the trinkets of Men. Proud, honorable and enduring, it is said that the Dwarfs shall weather the horrors and misery of this world until its final bitter end.

SlayersSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Brotherhood of Grimnir = From the Slayer Army list for Storm of Chaos, from what I can tell they’re another type of slayer unit, one that is a bit more elite than Troll Slayers, who have Ward saves because of the warpaint they wear.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/175292173/Wfb-Storm-of-Chaos
Daemon Slayers = The greatest slayers of all, they wield great weapons and there are very few of them around, perhaps only a handful in a unit? Often these experienced slayers are followed by young slayers hoping to learn from their example and die gloriously. They specialise in slaying daemons, but being good at killing them tends to make you extremely good at killing everything else.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dwarf_Slayer
Dragon Slayers = Next to Daemon Slayers they’re the greatest, they too wield great axes but this time against Dragons rather than Daemons. They also get a following of younger slayers but these typically are smaller in size than the groups that follow Daemon Slayers. No doubt Dragon Slayers would have all kinds of scars and burns.

http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...the_Grey_Seers
Slayer Doomseekers = Another unit from the Slayer Army list for Storm of Chaos, they appear to be similar to the Dwarf Fanatics, whirling axes on chains at the enemy, they’re unbreakable and reckless, but not prone to falling over or killing themselves.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/175292173/Wfb-Storm-of-Chaos
Slayer Pirates = A mercenary unit that’s been around for a long time, they’re from a dwarf trading ship that lost its precious cargo of ale, so decided to turn slayer. They don’t wield axes but dual pistols. Though they appear to be a one off unit in the lore, there is potential there for naval versions of the slayers, you could have Helldrake Slayers or Kharibdyss Slayers, etc. Ones where they specialise in fighting sea monsters.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/223222529/Citadel-Journal-44
Troll Slayers = Young slayers that specialise in slaying Trolls, they wield two single hand axes. Also listed on page 107 in the 3rd edition. Can also wield; Great Weapons, Shields, Light Armour

The Bhlak and Dekkur drill bit is made of the hardest steel, studded with diamonds. It is powered by one of the machine's two steam engines; the other powers the wheels. Siege TrainSpoiler Alert, click show to read:"The only realistic solution to breaking massive fortifications is to employ a formidable siege train which includes siege engines of gigantic proportions capable of smashing down the strongest walls, gates and towers quickly. These machines are so huge that they cannot easily be constructed in the field. The Giant Battering Ram = "The giant battering ram is cut from the tallest and strongest tree in the realm and shod with a massive iron or bronze head. Hundreds of men are needed to pull the ropes that swing the ram to strike a gate or fortress wall. One blow will smash great oak doors like matchwood or crumbles masonry into powder, collapsing towers and walls like sand castles. The hides of a thousand beasts form its canopy, protecting the operators from the arrows of the defenders."

The Great Cannon = "The great cannon is a cannon so big that the ruler will have to make special measures to get hold of enough metal to make it. All the bells in the realm or all the cannons of the fleet may have to be melted down to provide enough bronze to cast a single great cannon. https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155
The Siege Tower = "Hundreds of wagons are required to carry the pre-fabricated timbers that make up the siege tower, and when these are put together the siege tower will be raised higher than any known wall. Bolt throwers shoot out of port holes on each of its many levels. A drawbridge or spiked corvus is ready on the top of the tower to be dropped on the enemy battlements allowing attackers to swarm across, constantly reinforced by a steam stream of soldiers."

Bound MonstersSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Shard Dragon = Shard Dragons are not ‘true dragons’ as such, but the devolved remains of some draconic offshoot that migrated into the dark heart of the world. Untold centuries in lightless umbra have filled them with malign power and distorted their forms, some now venomous enough that they burn the very rock beneath them, while others are able to exhale to vaporous essence of terror to slay their prey. It was the Dwarfs that first returned these creatures to the light of the sun, having learned to bind Shard Dragons with powerful runic collars and turning them upon their foes to rend and tear.

AncestorsSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Rune Guardians = "The first Rune Guardians were built millennia ago, when the first Dwarf strongholds began to fall to Goblin forces. Realising they would be forced to leave the tombs of their honoured ancestors unguarded, the greatest Runesmiths of the time collaborated with the Engineers Guild to create tireless sentries that could be left behind. That at one time they could create such marvels is a source of both great pride and great sorrow for the Dwarfs. It would seem that the knowledge of the Master Rune of Waking is lost to the Runesmiths of today, and the schematics needed to construct one are nowhere to be found."

All dwarves drink vast quantities of ale and enjoy nothing better than a raucous evening singing and drinking. This is a typical drinking cart, but the contents of Bugman’s brew will stir a dwarf’s emotions, and will earn their uncontrollable wrath should the wagon be destroyed. It’s from Citadel Journal.

Order of Guardians = Like Templars, witch-hunters are thought by many to be a purely human phenomenon. In fact, the cult of the Ancestor God Gazul founded the Order of Guardians in 1681 I.C., following the Night of the Restless Dead, predating several human orders of witch-hunters. The Order of Guardians distinguished themselves in the Wizards' War which raged across the empire from 1979 through to 1991, and in the various campaigns against the Vampire Counts of Sylvania, beginning in 2010 I.C. This Dwarf witch-hunter order embodies the virtues of determined pursuit against the foul despoilers of the dead and the immediate dispensing of justice.

Order of the Stone Wall = Although templars may seem like a uniquely human concept, the cults of several Dwarf deities have warrior orders associated with them; the most notable example of this is the relationship between the Slayers and the cult of Grimnir, but it is by no means the only one. The Dwarf Order of the Stone Wall is associated with the cult of Grungni, and its members see themselves as the ultimate guardians of the Dwarf race. Founded during the first coming of Chaos (-4500 I.C.), the order embodies the virtues of steadfastness and determination, regardless of the odds.

Not satisfied with the carrying capacity and offensive capabilities of your standard Gyrocopter, Skalli has spend the last 20 years perfecting his Multi-Seater. The Multi-Seater has many useful purposes. It can be used to rescue stranded Dwarfs from precarious positions, or it can be used to airdrop a few Rangers into key positions. It is ideal for getting to and grabbing objectives quickly. Now the Steam Gun is joined by a single-shot Dragon Gun that can puncture even the hardest of hides.”

Sons of Kazakrendum = Many had found exactly such a demise, and the others were certain that their own absolution could not be far off. Goldseekers = Part of the scattered Goldseekers Clan, these miners had settled in Karak Kadrin. In truth, they would rather have been deep underground, using their extraordinary gift for smelling out rich veins of gold. Expert tunnelers, the Goldseekers carried with them especially potent blasting charges – useful for bursting through both stubborn rock formations and the range of foes they encountered along Peak Pass.

Grubkuli = Otherwise known as Goblin Hunters. Quarrellers with light armour, crossbows, standard bearer and champion. Standard inscribed with Rune of Slowness and Rune of Battle.

Lost Brotherhood = The Lost Brotherhood are all the Dwarfs during the Wars of the End Times that have taken the Slayer Oaths after falling victim to the Skaven invasions of the Under-Empire. Those too filled with horrific tales and grudge-debts took the Slayer Oath. The members of the Lost Brotherhood were grim warriors that sought only to destroy their foes or die trying.

Rordak’s Rangers = As he was an old drinking buddy of Karak Kadrin's chief engineer, Grumblesson, Rordak's Rangers bore a few unusual gadgets - cinderblast bombs, trollhammer torpedoes and their own keg of Bugman's XXXXXX for when the going really got rough.

Thunderfist Squadron = The Thunderfist Squadron, known as the Hammer of the Greenskins and the Keepers of the Pass was a trio of gyrobombers that regularly supported attacks out of Karak Kadrin. Their base station was in the inaccessible peak of nearby Karag Zhundak. The dwarfs lost count of how many times the Thunderfist Squadron dropped out of the skies to deliver their deadly payload, sweeping Peak Pass clear in a barrage of booming explosions.

Karaz-a-KarakSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Drakewardens = The runes struck into their gromril armour allowed the Drakewardens to withstand searing heat. Such guards proved especially valuable against the skaven. Warpfire thrower teams expected nothing to survive the unnatural blaze of their devious weapons, but the Drakewardens had taught many of them the errors of their ways.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Drakewardens
Everguard = To be named a hammerer of any hold was to be counted amongst the best of all dwarf warriors. To be named the Everguard - the High King's personal bodyguard - was to join the most elite of all dwarf formations. In a ritual that dated back to the first High King, Snorri Whitebeard, the Everguard were gigted with the finest crafted runic hammers from the armoury of Karaz-a-Karak. Each of those weighty war-mallets could crack rock to powder, making the kingsguard even more formidable.

Frostbeard Rangers = Hardy Rangers who set clever traps to ensnare monsters on the slopes of Karak-a-Karak. Makes sense they’d be unique to that region to me.

Kraka DrakSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Norse Dwarfs of the Hel Peaks = ”Horn-helmed Vargs from the Kraken Coast, in the Norscan north, had been yoked under the brutal leadership of King Ingvar the Ravager. The Ravager’s marauder fleet rode the berg-storms of the shattered coast, burning and slaughtering their way inland like a river of lava. After halting Ingvar’s invasions the Ravager King personally led an incursion north into the Ruinous gloom with the oath-answering Baldrgrim of the Bloody Beard and the Norse dwarfs of the Hel Peaks. Ingvar had but one intention – to end the mysterious Chaos warrior known as Archaon.”
