England is not an evil empire. It has the same goals as all the nations in the world, but it has had more success and therefore is labeled evil. Though no one can deny that many nations are suffering due to not only England, but European Imperialism.

Anyone who calls England evil is most likely a hypocrite who does not know what he/she is talking about.

BTW what are English muffins? I've never heard of them and muffins here are always marketed as 'American-style' muffins

This guy's book may do significantly less for historical fact than Thomas Crapper's designs did for sanitation systems in the Western World, but he is far from stupid.

He has found a little niche that is going to be a "nice little earner" for him. Far from having any interest or intention of presenting his "facts" objectively, it is positively in his interest to "stir things up" as much as possible, by posturing and grand standing.

The book may be a joke but he's going to be sniggering all the way to his bank.

    @imb39

There is of course a lot of debate as to what an 'empire' is. I can barely make out that map, but it appears that the empire was ruled by the Angevin dynasty, who were obviously a family from France. I am not quite sure what you're getting at here. I said that England solely has never had an empire, only in collaboration with Scotland to form the Kingdom of Great Britain did they really pick up their pace when it came to forming an empire.

When the English Empire comes to mind, I'm thinking of Britian and the colonies all around the world.

This is the British empire in the 1920's

It also once possessed that beautiful piece of real estate which was to become the United States of America.

However, I believe an empire is a country that encompasses many distinct cultures.

(Great Britain possessed parts of the Caribbean, Hindu Kush (India), North America, Africa, Central America, South America, the Middle East, Phillipines, Australia, and Oceania.)

(The Japanese Empire had Korea, China, Phillipines)

    I could go on.

But it is still incorrect to call it the English Empire, because that never existed. There was only the British Empire.

    That's what I meant.

Isn't there the commonwealth of nations. How does this work with the empire?

Yup, the sun never set on the British Empire.
Alexander, Caesar, Gengiz Khan nor Fuheror Hitler could ever dream of having such an empire of everlasting majesty and glory!

It's a free association of former Empire states and for some unknown reason, Mozambique. It's for trade and cultural links, nothing more

    Not most of them.

Being Canadian I know that old hag still has dominion over here, she's supposedly my head of state.

Australia & New Zealand are the only other ones I think.

    "The countries that matter"

That is what we should tell the people in Mozambique and previously colonized parts of the old British Empire.

"You live in Mozambique, and not Canada, New Zealand, or Australia. Therefore you don't matter"

    Ethnocentrism ftw!

Mozambique was never colonized. I don't know why it' in the Commonwealth.
It's also pretty clear that Dorian was joking
