I'm currently reading The Road to Serfdom by Hayek. Other books I can remember reading on the subject are Hoppe's Democracy: The God that Failed and others. Lets make a list here of good readings, and please list if your books SUPPORT or OPPOSE Communism (or socialism).
Anthem by Rand, IMO her best book
Hmm... "The Wealth of Nations" by Adam Smith?
Not the easiest read, but an intriguing one
I'm reading Orwell's Animal Farm at the moment, kind of shows how a Communist revolution can go wrong. In fact, I noticed that the way it was set up, sounded a little like the Russian Revolution but on a farm and with animals.
The Road to Serfdom is the book that placed the first cracks in my democratic socialism. I had worked in the"inner city" ghetto and was beginning to question all that i had believed for 20 years. That book helped me come to grips with what i knew was true.
"Chinese Lessons" I can't remember the author's name, and its not strictly speaking a political book, but it tells the first hand accounts of various people in China who were alived during Mao's brutal tenure. It's disturbing the kinds of things that happened there, not unlike the horrors of Nazi Germany, and yet for some reason, society doesn't seem to realize that the communist states were just as bad as Nazi Germany.
Human Action by Ludwig von Mises
The Politically Incorrect Guide to Socialism - Kevin D WilliamsonIts based on Hayek's work, but less "technicall" about it... perhaps. You're boud to like it.
