So I planted some Sky Pencils otherwise known has Japanese Holly, they didn't fare so well over the winter, I lost four of them and had to trim the remaining back for new growth. They were supposed to be ok in climates 5-9, well I'm in 5 and I wouldn't recommend it. I confirmed this with Earl may nursery, they said they had to bring their hollies in during the cold. It's disappointing because they are such wonderful evergreens which you can trim and shape and naturally grow upward hence the name 'sky pencil'
