Re: Bugs Reports & Technical Help
I'm experiencing frequent CTDs on the March version when fighting the Poles as Lithuania. In particular sallying out from Twangste and IIRC on some occasion also from Hrodna has resulted in a CTD.
I don't remember any CTDs against Novgorod (or Rus) in this version, be it sallying out, myself besieging or fighting them in a field battle, so for me it seems to narrow the problem towards some Polish or mercenary unit and/or particular battle scenery (mostly Twangste). I haven't paid attention to whether certain troops on the side of Poland have been part of the problematic battles each time - on my side probably yes, but the same unit types I've used against Novgorod and Rus without a problem.
I have applied the LAA and also use kostic's updated EDU. Here's a save, in which you can test to sally out from Twangste. I just tried it two times in a row, and had a CTD on both occasions before even getting to properly engage in battle. Perhaps 30-40 turns ago I had the same problem when sallying out from Twangste as well. After many tries I ended up bringing reinforcements next to the settlement and ending my turn, which made the Poles back off.
No need to progress the save to the next turn, I just posted the save in case you might find a bug. I'll make a different decision to progress, if the CTDs persist when sallying out.
Here's full.log and here's game.log, if the CTD isn't repeatable from the save.

Hi Mattus! Could you upload the screenshot to another site, like imgbb.com? The board is very slow and I just get a small thumbnail when I click on your picture.

Third time's the charm - tried the sally out battle today and no CTD this time. I'll let you know, if the problem persists later on in the campaign.

Just after starting a new ERE early era campaign(using the 03/27/2024 SSHIP release), I found a potential issue:
Scrolling to the 'faction: byzantium' section in the descr_names and changing "Mikhail" to "Mikhael" to match that priest's name in the descr_strat worked.

this is probably for @kostic as it's related to the units on the battlefield

little bug found in my HRE campaign with the March 2024 version, in Mariemburg fortress when you put 2 generals inside they obtain the same PT, one as Duke of... and other as Emir of...both of them are german generals ( one is the heir Conrad)

Re: Bugs Reports & Technical Help
Hey all, love the mod but ever since switching to the new version I am playing as Hungary and it was working fine for first hundred turns, but as I reach 1220 past, I start getting crashes on the end turn particularly around Byzantium. It's all "pure function virtual call" errors. Reloading an earlier save works, and this has happened multiple times. Unfortuantely one of my saves corrupted and the last save is from like 50 years ago so I really don't want to have to lose all that progress.
I've killed Byzantium on this turn via cheats and ended turn, but this causes the same error to happen on Rebels turn instead now.
If someone could please help, I've spent so much time on this save and have detailed lore and love my current campaign...

@vovery: I was able to do the Twangste exit and the whole battle without CTD. Maybe try my method of deleting battle AI files (see attached image). I noticed it avoided most CTD in battle.
@Jurand: When you talk about AI in campaign_script, are you talking about battle AI?

Re: Bugs Reports & Technical Help
For me the Twangste sally out battle worked eventually on the third time, I didn't yet try your method at that time. But I'll give it a shot, if I run into the same CTDs again.
If someone is familiar with the files shown in kostic's picture, would of course be interesting to know if they are referenced to in other mod files, ie. if they actually affect the battle AI or not :)

Another little bug found... The Generals Welf, Hardbug and Houstentafen dont have the trait of "Germanic Princely blood", only have this trait the King Lothar Suplingburg...
Shouldn't these noble houses also have it? since if the king dies you will not be able to have this attribute of German blood in the game...

Re: Bugs Reports & Technical Help
A couple of small observations about this newest version. Playing as Pisa I cannot build landowners building in Nizza, so no knights can be recruited there, even though right now its on the level of citadel. Previously I played with HRE and noticed the title of ruler of Magdeburg was Emir of Saxony. I can't say I've encountered many bugs, but the stability of this version is way lower than last years version. In my current playthrough of about 300 turns I've crashed at least 50 times. In the first 100 turns crashes happened roughly every 10 turns, but right now at around turn 300, they happen every 3 to 5 turns, most of them at the end of rebels' turn. I've also had crashes when quicksaving sometimes. Now so far I was always able to just reload and continue, but it gets tiresome if it happens when you've won a major battle on VH/VH, and than it crashes when loading out of battle. Keep up the good work, SSHIP is by far the best mod, but sadly also the crashiest one I've ever played for medieval2, and I've probably played 95% of them.
Re: Bugs Reports & Technical Help
Waluk I feel you, I've had the same experience of regular crashes on the March version. After a big battle it's very frustrating. Although for me the crashes happen more often already from the beginning, and at all different timings (during battles in various phases; when returning from a battle to the map; between turns on other factions' turns). And also on every faction I've tried so far (Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Poland). I now have a recurring battle CTD when playing as Poland at turn 25 or so, I'll try what kostic hinted on "deleting" (moving to a backup folder) the AI sets and two battle config XMLs.
I'm just throwing out what comes to mind, but could this version be more demanding for hardware either due to code optimization or simply more demanding calculations needed, and people with better computers are experiencing less crashes? I have a fairly old setup with Intel i5-4690K, AMD RX 480, 16 GB of RAM & an SSD (I've of course applied the LAA). Although was anything else changed from the 2023 version that concerns battles themselves except kostic's new unit upgrades? If not, I guess I shouldn't be experiencing this many battle CTDs, when in previous version I rarely had them at all.
For me Nemesis2345's 150+ turns without a single CTD is unfortunately utopian :(
Edit: no luck for me with kostic's trick of removing the AI sets and battle config XMLs. I still get a battle CTD in this turn 26 Poland save when fighting the small battle against Lithuanians in Plock. No matter if I sally out with the garrison army or initiate the fight with the FL outside of the castle. I've tried the battle perhaps 5-6 times now, and at some point of the battle it simply crashes. Hope it helps in figuring out, what might be the cause, but no need to progress the campaign. I have to unfortunately end testing this version - my system and the version don't simply seem to come along. It's a shame, gameplay-wise it's the best SSHIP I've played so far.
By the way, Poland is a very fleshed out faction to play, kudos to the team for that!
Re: Bugs Reports & Technical Help
@vovery : I too got 2 CTD bugs with your savegame during the battle against the Lithuanians. :(First, while trying to get out. The bug arrived a few minutes after the start of the battle. Then by attacking with the rescue army just as the bodyguards and the community leader were about to reach the forest archers.
Other tests need to be tried to understand where this might be coming from...

Re: Bugs Reports & Technical Help
Good to hear that it was reproducable kostic, hope it helps in finding the bug! My experiences were the same; I got to fight a couple of minutes, and one time almost the whole battle, but eventually faced a crash even at a moment when both sides were regrouping, and no fighting was taking place at that moment. IIRC I moved the camera with keyboard, when the CTD hit that time.
