Hi im really impressed with this mod, the new kingdoms you add is excellent choice,of course the kingdom of croatia would be fantastic but this is historical improvement , well you add serbia on balkans, now this region is a bit more challenging, the republic of pisa is good choice, to capture the peninsula now is a hard work, divided turks now gives a headache when i play as bizantyum, personally i think that units of serbia need some retexturing they have western look (except some units), the byzantium units are outstanding just as turkish. So in one word good job . I didnt encountered any ctd. But there is only one bug i founded, and i saw it was reported, it is resurection of rebel units of Sultanate of rum after they are defeated, i kill them next turn here they come again. And personally the heretics could be a little bit weaker... And last question: when the next ssmap 8 beta could be expected?
The rum bug is already fixed for the new version. Yes heretics could be weaker, I agree. I personally find it very annoying to lose several priests to one heretic... Kingdom of croatia was united with the kingdom of hungary for a long time until 1250 I think, so it wasn't a real faction back then. I have no clue when the beta 8 will come out, we still need to wait for a member to upload the new overhauled descr_units. While waiting, I'm working almost daily on improving the AI and the game. So work is getting done, but we need that one file to get the beta 8 out. Oh, and thank you very much for your kind words
After installing mod, Stainless Steel no longer launches, I've tried running as an admin, I've reinstalled SS. Using windows 8 (I'm guessing that right there is the problem (rot in hell bill gates).
mine runs fine on windows 8. Try reinstalling vanilla kingdoms and ss 6.3 then 6.4 then SSHIP again. clean install. Backup any saved games you want to keep. On a separate note, It seems to cost a FORTUNE to bribe rebel generals, if able to bribe them at all. Is this by design or a bug that makes a single general not bribe-able for under 200k? florins?
Bribing is somewhat hardcoded and very limited in general. The price of bribing depends on it's army size, as well as it's loyalty. You cant change the amount of cash needed per loyalty, you can only lower the generals loyalty to make bribing more affordable. You can (and I did for the new version) increase the chance of bribing though. So it's still expensive, but mostly possible at least.
Alright working now. I installed to desktop then moved all folders in following that I reinstalled the mod into the SS folder (somehow this worked). But I have an error. This error causes a crash at the end of every turn, have to reload, otherwise very enjoyable mod.

Getting an error on turn 89, playing as England. Seems to occur when the AI is taking Hungary's turn. Happened at 12:10 and when I reloaded the game and attempted at 12:13. Any ideas?

Had to cut a good chunk of the log out cause it was 20 0000 characters, max allowed to post in 10 000. Seems to be an unspecified error.
Did a test run while clearing fog of war, seemed to occur when an army merged with a specific general. Gonna kill off the general then attempt again. Instead of killing him, i tried just moving the armies further apart. Didnt work, will now kill him off. Killed him off, still get an error but slightly different time now. Still near Hungary's turn, log looks the same as posted above. Please help ahaha.

Unfortunately, random CTDs tend to happen. No matter what you mod. It perhaps has to with pathfinding, so try moving other characters of hungary and the following AI faction around. Because when you see the army merging, it probably worked and it's the next thing you don't see which causes the crash. If the error keeps repeating itself, you are just very very unlucky. I'm testing this game as said almost daily, and in the last 2 months(easily over 50 campaigns with 50+ turns played each) I had one single CTD which couldn't be solved by just reloading the game. There also were no clues where to look at, just like in your case.
I know your probably very frustrated and that sucks. The best thing you can do is try what I said, and if it doesnt work reload a previous save.
Also, if you cut things out of the log, always insert the last ~50 things please. Especially logs including messages from the campaign_script or traits/ancillaries can be helpful.

almost midnight (tired), just found out about this mod and I'm hoping to install it and get playing!
For reference, I have the Kingdoms expansion, patched up to v1.3 & Stainless Steel v6.4
Also, at the end of the day I'm only doing this for the Kingdom of Georgia, so if there is a more straightforward way to add them that would be smashing!
Any clues as to what some of the unit stat changes will be for this amazing mod? I'm hoping to see stronger Varangians and more balanced cavalry. Happy holidays to all involved with the great SSMAP!
I agree with IZ-Master. The Kingdoms patch should be in 1.5.
Regarding the installation,
1 - you must have a clean installation of M2TW with the Kingdoms expansion.
2 - Then install SS6.3 and then SS6.4.
3 - Run the set up. Choose early era, savage AI. BGRII & IV, permanent wachtowers don't work. Be sure RR/RC is enabled. The rest is optional, depending on your tastes.
4 - Install SSHIP (SSMAPv7.0). Be careful: when you run the package, be sure that the path indicated is correct.
5 - I've done a couple of quickfixes. I think they're about 2 or 3 pages after the download post. I recommend to install them as well.
6 - Launch the game. It should work.
Note: if you play custom battles, you have to restart the game before to start a campaign game. Overwise, you get a CTD. I don't know why unfortunately.
Let us know if you're still encountering problems.

Been trying to get the campaign working again Lifth, it appears to come right after Hungary sacks the west serb city. I included my log. Still seems to be an unexplained error.
I've checked your log GiddeeUpp but unfortunately I can't find a reason.
The city you mentioned is Ragusa or Skaddar?
Try to follow the method mentioned by MWY a few posts above (post #3230) using the "toggle_fow" option to remove the fog.

My reasoning was that his game its launching with the medieval.exe and not the kingdom.exe. Thats pretty common with steam when the user dont use the kingdoms launcher.
A sure way to also make it work, after you install everything, Rename one of the kingdom campaign, example americas, to something else, and rename the SS folder into americas, then when you launch the game select the americas campaign. That the oldest way to run kingdoms.exe with a mod
Lifthrasir, wont Guiddee savefile help you track down if the issue is isolated or bug from mod?

The log from GiddeeUpp shows a bunch of warnings but they're not supposed to cause a CTD. I haven't noticed reason able to cause the CTD. My guess is that the CTD is due to a specific character (it happened once in one of my campaigns) or due to a pathfinding issue.
Anyway, any help is welcome and feel free to have a look. I might have missed something.
