Thread: Some questions

    Default Some questions

First, I want to say that this is a great mod specially with the new Units and textures. A needed update Id say! I've been enjoying a beautiful Campaign as Portugal and the new units are very much welcomed!! However I have some questions about the next update.

Will Portugal be getting some Two Handed units using the "Montante" Sword? I think it was pretty common for Portugal and Spain and could add quite a bit of variety.

When will the next update come out?

When was this sword used? If its timeline begins during the 15th century, then probably not since we're not really focusing on late/endgame units currently.. sorry

next update will come out asap, it will still take a while though I think.

I did some research and unfortunately it's not part of the time period!

The montante was a characteristically Iberian weapon, originating in the 15th or 16th centuries and still in use in the 17th and it was shared between the Spanish (where is is also called a mandoble) and the Portuguese.

Shame, I would to love to see some units with these: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/WERRCNYBQt8/hqdefault.jpg

It's quite similar as the Claymore used by the Scots (more specifically the Highlanders) during the same period. If we have enough free slots in the EDU, we might add them for late/very late units.

I'm very excited about the new maps that have been created. Can't wait to play my first campaign.

Lol yeah, it was. But I wanted to be careful. Glad you were able to enjoy it before it got edited out

I was inspired by this map I saw on the news... it reminded me of the Total War games 'faction selection' screen!

I can hear the Medieval 2 Kingdoms narrator now... "One realm, five kingdoms... Total Warrrr!"

And during the video intro, we see each faction described, just like in M2TW Kingdoms:

"The YPG - brave fighters from the mountains of Kurdistan, ready to take the fight to their ISIS enemy".
"The Aztecs - brave warriors who appease their gods with hearts torn from the chests of their enemies"...

    That sort of thing.

This is still by far the best TW intro imo:

"This is an age of darkness....but a few forge their destiny. Medieval...TOTAL WAR!"

Still love the scorpion animation after 13 years

It's from the original Medieval TW (2002). A classic game.

    Not sure about that
I've been playing RTW during a long time (mostly with mods) but I finally get stucked on M2TW once I've tried it with mods
The later TW games didn't make the difference

Same here - I played MTW and RTW to death and won with multiple factions, but it was M2TW with mods that really stuck with me. I've played a fair bit of ETW, R2TW and am getting into ATW, but M2 remains my favourite thanks to the scale and moddability.
