Thanks it works now.
Thanks it works now.
A simple step by step installation for Steam is now available, based on the latest (Feb 2017) versions of Steam, M2TW and SS:
Creating a World – Steam Install for SS6.3 and 6.4
Thank You! The only solution that has worked. However, WHY does it work? Kingdoms.exe was in my MTW2 folder the whole time, yet was undetected because the launcher wasn't set to "Run as Administrator". Makes absolutely no sense to me, but my computer likes it.
The main advantage of having Stainless Steel on Steam would be to play on multiplayer. I do not think this fix solves that issue, or have I missed something?
The other advantage would be to use the patched up version of the Medieval 2 engine for a mod, but again I doubt that putting Stainless Steel or other mods on Steam using this trick would enable that either, since mods are placed in a different area, not within the main M2TW+Kingdoms list.
How can the latter be done? How can Stainless Steel appear in the same list as Medieval II: Total War Americas, Brittania, etc? Suggestions? Ideas?
That's helpful to know, although not ideal.
