The Battle of Crecy saw the English bringing along primitive gunpowder artillery while the French were using pavise-armed crossbowmen. The French lost but not due to gunpowder.

Despite a massive Ottoman invasion force in Macva, forces crossing Sava and Morava rivers, and news coming of fall of Bosnia to the Turks. The crown is forced to divert resources to fight mutineering mercenaries.

Does anyone feel that adding more of a storyline will improve the thread? That is assuming I can come up with one, I have tried here and there to connect the posts with my campaign story so it is more than just my battles. I used to be really inspired by the AARs that used to be so popular, back in the day.

The year was 1466, and the winds of war howled across the blood-soaked plains of Wallachia. General Istvan, a seasoned Hungarian mercenary commander, stood at the head of a diverse and determined army of allies. They were reinforced by Wallachian warriors led by the resolute Boyar Antoniu Neaga, who had put aside their internal disputes to unite against a common enemy: the formidable Ottoman Turks.

The Ottoman forces, led by the cunning Ottoman Vizier Davud Koca, were a formidable adversary. Generals Kerim Turhaniglu and Selih Osmanoglu, both experienced leaders, stood beside him. The Ottomans had come with a mighty host, determined to surpress the revolt led by the Voivoide Vlad.

The Ottoman Empire, under the command of Sultan Mehmed II, had launched a major offensive against Hungary, seeking to expand its territorial control further into Eastern Europe. Nándorfehérvár, a key fortress guarding Hungary's southern borders, was their primary target. The Hungarian Black Army was tasked with defending the city and preventing its fall to the Ottomans.

General Radó had devised a strategy to utilize the city's fortifications effectively. He positioned his forces strategically, with a focus on defending key chokepoints and utilizing artillery. Laszlo Huyandi was tasked with leading a contingent to defend the eastern flank of the city, where the Ottoman assault was expected to be the heaviest.

As the sun rose on August 17, 1466, the Ottoman army, numbering in the tens of thousands, began its assault on Nándorfehérvár. Sultan Mehmed II himself led the charge, determined to capture the city at any cost.

General Radó's forces held their ground fiercely. Archers and artillery atop the city walls inflicted significant casualties on the advancing Ottoman troops. Meanwhile, Laszlo Huyandi's command split into several contigents to cover all possible approaches to the fortress.

In the crisp autumn of 1469, tension hung heavy in the air between the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary. The Ottoman Sanjak-bey of Bosnia, an ambitious and relentless leader, had set his sights on expanding his dominion into Slavonia, a region that had long been contested between the two powers.

As the leaves turned golden and the wind whispered secrets, news reached the ears of Hunyadi Mátyás, the valiant Hungarian king. Mátyás, known for his indomitable spirit and fierce determination, wasted no time in preparing for the impending clash. He saw the Sanjak-bey's invasion as an affront to Hungary's sovereignty, a challenge he could not ignore.

The Bosnian forces, led by the Sanjak-bey, surged into Slavonia, leaving a trail of turmoil in their wake. The invasion threatened Hungarian lands and stirred the Hungarian nobility and peasantry alike. King Mátyás, accompanied by his loyal generals and knights, rallied his army and rode forth to meet the invaders.

The council was divided. Some advocated for a defensive stance, urging the fortification of Hungary's borders and preparation for a siege. They believed that the mighty walls and fortresses could withstand the Ottoman onslaught.

But King Mátyás, known for his boldness and audacious spirit, had a different vision. He gazed at the map spread before him, his finger tracing the routes that led southward, deeper into the heart of Ottoman-controlled territory. His advisors were baffled. An offensive into Ottoman-held lands was a daring and unorthodox move. It was a gamble, a high-stakes decision that could either secure Hungary's future or hasten its downfall.

Yet, King Mátyás was resolute. He understood that a defensive strategy would only delay the inevitable. With The Serbian Despotate at peace with the Ottomans, the Sava and Drava flank was open. The Ottoman Empire, like a relentless tide, would eventually crash against Hungary's borders, and there was no guarantee of victory in such a protracted war.

With the conviction of a leader who understood the weight of his decision, King Mátyás ordered his armies to march southward, into the heart of Soli (Bosnia), an Ottoman-held territory. The offensive was bold and audacious, catching the Ottomans off guard and disrupting their plans for the impending invasion.

1470 The plan to draw the Ottomans away from Slavononia has suceeded, battle is just a matter of time as the Turks gather their forces. Meanwhile the Hungarians continue their invasion of Bosnia.

In the sweltering summer of 1470, Archduke Ferdinand of Austria embarked on a journey that would alter the course of history. With the sun high in the sky, he led his entourage of knights and diplomats as they crossed the border into the Domini di Terraferma, the dominions of the Serene Republic of Venice, known as La Serenissima. His destination: the heart of the Italian Peninsula and the eternal city of Rome, where he sought the ultimate prize—the Holy Roman Emperor's crown.

Ferdinand's ambition burned as fiercely as the summer sun. He was determined to secure the papal coronation that would legitimize his claim to the Holy Roman Empire. As he rode through the Venetian territories, he couldn't help but marvel at the landscapes that unfolded before him—the picturesque countryside, the Venetian villas nestled among the vineyards, and the shimmering waters of the Adriatic Sea on the horizon.

However, the journey was far from a leisurely ride through the Italian countryside. Ferdinand was acutely aware of the political complexities that awaited him. La Serenissima, a formidable maritime power, held significant sway in Italy, and the Venetians were not known to easily yield to outsiders' demands.

Summer of 1470 brought scorching days and tense nights to the Balkans. As thunder rocked the sky, Lazlo Hunyadi, a seasoned Hungarian commander, found himself facing a dire situation as two massive Ottoman armies descended upon his position near a vital river bridge. The fate of his kingdom hung in the balance.

With the sun blazing overhead, Hunyadi knew he had to act swiftly. The bridge was the only means by which the Ottomans could cross the river, and he intended to make it a bottleneck they would regret.

Hunyadi ordered his men to fortify their position. A Cheval de frise was driven into the ground, forming a makeshift palisade to protect his cannons and crossbowman. Cannoneers loaded their massive weapons, positioning them strategically along the riverbank.

As the Ottomans approached, their numbers seemed endless. The clash was imminent.

The Ottomans began their advance, their ranks stretching as far as the eye could see. Ottoman commanders believed their sheer numbers would overwhelm Hunyadi's defenses.

The roar of cannons shattered the hot summer air as Hunyadi's artillery opened fire. The booming thunder echoed off the hills, sending shockwaves through the Ottoman ranks. Explosions of smoke and debris filled the sky as cannonballs found their marks, decimating the Ottoman front lines.

Hunyadi's crossbows followed suit, releasing a torrent of arrows that darkened the sky like a swarm of locusts. Ottoman soldiers fell by the hundreds, their advance faltering.

But the Ottomans were relentless. Wave after wave surged forward, determined to seize the bridge. Hunyadi's men fought valiantly, defending their position with grim determination.

The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting long shadows over the battlefield. With each passing moment, the Ottoman losses mounted. Their momentum waned, and their ranks grew thin.

Hunyadi's fortifications had held, and the river ran red with Ottoman blood. As the final rays of sunlight faded, the Ottomans retreated in disarray, their dreams of crossing the river shattered.

Lazlo Hunyadi had achieved the impossible. Against overwhelming odds, he had defended the bridge, halting the Ottoman advance and securing a critical victory for Hungary. The battle of the bridge in the summer of 1470 would be remembered as a testament to the indomitable spirit of those who dared to defy the might of the Ottoman Empire.

In the scorching summer of 1473, the rolling hills of Pozsega (Požega) bore witness to a pivotal battle that would leave its mark on the annals of history. The combatants were Istvan Szapolyai, the Grand Voivode of Don Kraji, leading the Hungarian and Croatian forces, and the formidable Ottoman duo of Vizier Turgutoglu Osman and Isjak Kraloglu, the former Prince of House Katromanic from Bosnia.

The setting sun cast a golden hue over the vast, undulating landscape as the two armies assembled on opposite sides of a field. Neither side possessed cannons on this occasion, for the treacherous river crossings had exacted a toll on their artillery.

As the first rays of dawn broke through the eastern horizon, tension hung heavy in the air. The armies stood poised, flags fluttering in the gentle breeze, and the clash of steel echoed through the valley.

Grand Voivode Istvan Szapolyai, a seasoned commander, addressed his troops with unwavering resolve. He knew the stakes were high, and the fate of their lands and kingdoms depended on their valor this day. His men, a mix of Hungarian and Croatian warriors, were prepared to follow him to the ends of the earth.

On the opposing side, Vizier Turgutoglu Osman, a master strategist, and Isjak Kraloglu, the Prince with a burning desire for revenge, devised a cunning battle plan. The Ottomans had come to the field with a disciplined force, their soldiers well-drilled and fearless.

The battle commenced with a deafening roar as swords clashed and arrows filled the sky. The Hungarians and Croatians fought fiercely, their determination matched only by their adversaries' resolve.

Isjak Kraloglu, who had once been the Prince of Bosnia, sought redemption on the battlefield. He led a fearless charge, rallying his troops to push forward. With every strike, he avenged the loss of his homeland.

Grand Voivode Istvan Szapolyai, astride his noble steed, directed his forces with strategic brilliance. He saw openings in the Ottoman lines and exploited them, leading his men with courage and skill.

As the day wore on, the battle raged on a knife's edge. Blood soaked the earth, and the toll of war weighed heavily on both sides. The field of Pozsega became a crucible of heroism, where destinies were forged in the crucible of combat.

But, as the sun dipped below the western hills, the Hungarians and Croatians began to gain the upper hand. The Ottomans, their ranks thinning, were forced to retreat. Vizier Turgutoglu Osman, with his strategic acumen, managed to withdraw his forces in good order, sparing them from annihilation.

The Battle of Pozsega was a hard-fought victory for Grand Voivode Istvan Szapolyai and his Hungarian and Croatian forces. They had stood strong against a formidable Ottoman adversary and achieved a hard-won triumph on that fateful summer day in 1473. Yet, the war would rage on, and the echoes of Pozsega would resonate through the pages of history, a testament to the indomitable spirit of those who fought there.

While the fighting was taking place in Pozsega and Bosnia a massive Ottoman army has arrived outside the gates of Nándorfehérvár

In the autumn of 1473, the mighty city of Nándorfehérvár (Beograd) stood as a beacon of Christian resistance against the relentless onslaught of the Ottoman Empire. For a year, it had endured a grueling siege by not one, but four massive Ottoman armies, commanded by a formidable Vizier. The defenders within the city's stout walls had fought valiantly, but as the days turned to weeks and then months, their supplies dwindled, and their hope began to wane.

The relentless pressure from the Ottoman forces had left Nándorfehérvár battered but unbroken. The brave defenders, led by their determined commander, knew that the fate of the city held the balance of power in the region. Word had spread throughout Europe of the city's plight, and relief armies had been dispatched to break the siege and provide much-needed supplies, one led by Hunyadi Corvinos himself.

Throughout the year, these relief armies had valiantly fought their way through enemy lines, attempting to reach the beleaguered city. But the Ottoman forces were cunning and tenacious. They had constructed a formidable network of fortifications and had established a tight blockade, making it nearly impossible for the relief forces to break through.

As the autumn leaves began to fall, and the chill of winter approached, the defenders of Nándorfehérvár realized that their situation had become increasingly desperate. Food and water were scarce, and disease had begun to ravage the population.

With heavy hearts, the city's commander convened a council of his most trusted advisors. They knew that the relief armies had tried their best, but time had run out. The decision was agonizing, but they knew that further resistance would only bring more suffering to the people of Nándorfehérvár.

In the stillness of a cold October night, the city's wall were breached and stormed for the final time and the flags of the Ottomans were soon flying above the battered walls.

The fall of Nándorfehérvár in 1473 marked a turning point in the ongoing struggle between the Christian kingdoms of Europe and the expanding Ottoman Empire. The defenders had shown incredible courage and resilience, but in the face of overwhelming odds and a year-long siege, they had been forced to yield. The fall of Nándorfehérvár would be remembered as a poignant chapter in the complex history of the Ottoman-Hungarian conflicts of the time.

In the blistering summer of 1497, the mountainous terrain of further Austria echoed with the clash of steel and the cries of warriors. The Swiss cantons, known for their renowned infantry and steadfast resolve, launched a daring attack on the territories of further Austria. The verdant valleys and Alpine peaks bore witness to a short yet brutal battle that would be etched into the annals of history.

The Swiss, adorned in their distinctive halberds and bearing the iconic Swiss cross on their banners, descended upon the Austrian forces with a relentless ferocity. The air was thick with tension as the armies met on the battlefield, both sides fueled by a potent mix of patriotism and a determination to defend their respective homelands.

The clash began with a thunderous charge. Swiss pikemen, disciplined and resolute, advanced with unwavering purpose. Austrian knights, clad in gleaming armor, countered with a fierce cavalry charge that shook the very ground beneath them.

Violence erupted as swords clashed, arrows found their marks, and the battlefield became a maelstrom of chaos. The cries of wounded soldiers mingled with the clash of arms, creating a symphony of war that echoed through the valleys.

Neither side would yield nor ask for quarter. It was a battle of attrition, a struggle for supremacy that would see both armies almost brought to the brink of destruction. The verdant landscape turned crimson as blood soaked into the soil.

Amidst the chaos, leaders on both sides fought valiantly. Swiss commanders rallied their troops, and Austrian nobles, their armor gleaming with the intensity of battle, led charges to break the Swiss lines. It was a contest of skill, courage, and unyielding determination.

As the sun dipped below the jagged peaks, exhaustion settled upon the battlefield. The once-mighty armies were now shadows of their former selves. The toll of violence and bloodshed had left both sides battered and broken, and the mountains bore witness to the heavy cost of their fervent struggle.

In the aftermath, with dusk casting a somber hue over the battlefield, a tense silence descended. The survivors, weary and bloodied, stood amidst the fallen. No triumphant cheers echoed through the valleys. Instead, the only sound was the mournful wind whispering through the pines.

The summer of 1497 had witnessed a brutal confrontation that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who survived. The Swiss cantons and further Austria, though scarred and diminished, would live on to tell the tale of a battle where neither side would give nor ask for quarter.

In the misty winter of 1477, a grand assembly convened within the hallowed halls of a Croatian city. The air was thick with anticipation as advocates from both sides passionately presented their cases for the kingdom's future. The fate of Croatia hung in the balance, caught in the delicate dance between two formidable options.

On one side stood fervent proponents of maintaining ties with the Kingdom of Hungary, advocating for the continuation of a union that had weathered many storms. On the other side were those who saw a new horizon under the rule of Ferdinand, the powerful Archduke of Austriaand Holy Roman Emperor of the famous German nation.

The debates echoed through the chambers, resonating with the weight of history and the aspirations of a kingdom at a crossroads. Advocates presented their arguments with eloquence, invoking the heritage, rights, and aspirations of the Croatian people.

As the discussions wore on, voices grew hoarse, and the lines between adversaries blurred. Amidst the heated debates, a subtle shift occurred. The vision of Ferdinand, a ruler known for his strength and dominion over lands extending into Croatia's Slavic neighbors, gained traction.

On the stroke of midnight on January 1, 1477, an agreement was reached. Ferdinand was chosen as the new King of Croatia. The assembly, representative of the diverse voices of the realm, confirmed the succession, sealing the destiny of the kingdom.

In return for the throne, Ferdinand solemnly pledged to honor the historic rights, freedoms, laws, and customs that had long defined Croatia's identity within the Hungarian kingdom. His commitment went beyond mere words; it was a pact written in the ink of history. A promise to defend Croatia from the looming shadows of Ottoman invasion and subjugation.

Ferdinand's commitment was not abstract. He pledged a formidable force: 1000 horsemen, 200 soldiers, and financial support for an additional 800 horsemen. The fortified cities, standing as bulwarks against external threats, would receive his careful scrutiny and unwavering support.

The agreement marked a new chapter for Croatia, a chapter where the destiny of a kingdom intertwined with the promise of a ruler. The people looked towards Ferdinand not just as a sovereign but as a guardian, a protector of their rights, culture, and autonomy.

As the news spread through the cobblestone streets and sunlit squares, the kingdom embraced the dawn of a new era. Ferdinand I, with the weight of the crown upon his head, stood ready to fulfill the promises made in the winter of 1477. Croatia's destiny was bound to his, and the pages of history awaited the tales of a kingdom navigating the currents of change under the rule of a new monarch. Only time will tell how the Hungarian Barons will respond to this power grap by the Emperor and a what could be descibed as a betrayal by the Croation Lords and Bishops.

    Slavonia 1488
The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the vast Slavonian plain. A gentle breeze rustled the fields of wheat, whispering secrets to the towering oaks that stood as silent sentinels to the unfolding drama. Albert III, The Courageous, sat atop his steed, his armor polished to a dazzling shine, the emblem of his house emblazoned proudly on his chestplate.

Agram, the jewel of Slavonia, lay just beyond the horizon, its spires and walls glistening in the distance. But the city was not the subject of Albert's contemplation. It was the darkening clouds on the eastern horizon, where a shadow loomed, a storm gathering in the form of two massive Ottoman armies.
