A modification set in the late Roman Era, the mod is planned to be developed by sub-campaigns focusing on major events of the era building up to a final grand campaign set during the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
Having fallen out of the favor of the Empress Placidia, in 429AD Boniface invited Gaeseric, the King of the Vandals, to migrate from Hispania into the rich Roman lands of Northern Africa. Taking 80,000 men, including Alans, Roman-Spaniards, former slaves and several Germanic tribesmen with their families, they seized lands from the local Berbers and some Romans near Tingi (Tangier). From there they overran the country and spread all over Mauritania.
The year is 452AD and just as Gildas wrote Britain has survived a notable storm. The heroic victories of Cadeyrn 'Battle Prince', the son of Vortigern, have allowed the Council of Britain (Concilium Britanniae) to retain its pre-eminent position in the island. But the tumults of decades of war have fractured the outer regions in to a number of competing realms that gnaw at Britain's edges, sapping her strength and undermining resistance to the Germanic barbarians that tear her eastern shores. Meanwhile, in the west, across the Cichican valley, the island of Hibernia is splintered between several powerful clans whose only unitary cause is a common desire to seize absolute power and claim the title of Ard Rí or "High King". And to the south, beyond the Sea of the Britons, the power of Rome is fading fast. Gaul is surrounded by swarming hordes of heathen barbarians that threaten to overwhelm her flawed defences. Whilst the armies of mighty Aëtius hold-out then the wan light of civilization will remain imperished; but all wise men rightly wonder just how long this situation can last.
Also known as Odoacer, was a Germanic foederati general who on 4 September 476 AD deposed the last Western Roman Emperor, Romulus Augustus. In 476 AD, Odoacer officially became the first Germanic King of Italy and a new era began. Only two remnants of once prosperous Western Roman regions remained as the once known mighty Roman world in Europe slipped further into the Dark ages while the newly founded Barbarian kingdoms emerged and prospered from their predecessor's ashes.
With Attila the Hun's massive empire extending into the Russian plains, bounding on its borders the Roman empire was beginning to fall apart. During the first half of the fifth century the eastern empire was holding steady, but the western empire was crumbling. The Ostrogoths, a fairly hostile people, had taken a firm hold of the Pannonian part of the Balkans. The Visigoths were settled in Aquitania. The Burgundians were settled in north west of the Alps. Britain had been abandoned. The Sueves settled in the northwest of Hispania, the Franks moved across the Rhine and Britons descended across the sea to settle in the northwestern tip of Gaul, and the hostile Vandals had lodged themselves in northern Africa. In 450, Attila decided he would bring the West into submission, much like what he did to the East. He planned to undertake a campaign that would destroy the irritating Visigoths in Gaul, and then to conquer the Western Roman Empire. The campaign will tie together geographically all of the previous ones thus becoming the IB2 Momma.
