No not really ... not that of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or any other country ... except Canada, Australia & probably South Africa.

India has a president as the nominal head & the Prime Minister as the executive head.

The only true legacy of an Empire is multi-culturism.

    - The queen is head of state of the commonwealth realms those being; Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

I think Mozambique joined the Commonwealth due to economic considerations. The application was supported by it commonwealth neighbours.

You've only listed three countries. I believe it is actually sixteen Commonwealth nations.

The Commonwealth of Nations is a splendid institution whose members celebrate, every four years, with the Commonwealth Games; the world's second-largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.

It's popularly believed that it's main functions are both political and economic, but in reality it exists purely to produce high class cricketers and to give Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II opportunities to wear her sparkly tiaras and splendid frocks at official dinners.

So no, the angevin empire was in no ways an English empire. It was much more of a French empire.

It's head was the king of England. English empire. France is a different country.
By your reckoning the British Empire was really German since it was ruled by german kings who didn't speak English and included German territory, or an Indian empire since the most valuable perovince was india

A Kingdom which was taken By force, And a title that had at the time of Henri II, had no relation to englishmen. The angevin empire was not headed by englishmen. It was headed by genetic and cultural frenchmen from france.

And since i sense that your Nationalistic pride is clouding your judgement, It dosent matter either way for your Jigonism. Since even if it was "English" which it wasnt, Phillipe Auguste still conquered it in the early 13th century, so i wouldnt get your patriotic panties in a twist.

What's the difference between my Hannoverian example and your Agevin one?
And before you get too smug about Phillipe Augustus he didn't take Gascony and by the 14th century we were back.
Also, the French didn't take England, the Normans did and Normans were vikings

Its a completely diffrent situation. Angevins didnt convert culturally, and the first true English king Edward I didnt come until 80 years after Bouvines. Secondly, The angevins most important lands were in france, there most important nobles were french.

How does any of this not make the English evil.

    Which they most certainly are.

...and when Hitler received his Luftwaffles, he said "where is mein kampflimentary coffee?"

Of course the English are evil. Why! Didn't they sack your capitol and burn down that quaint little detached des. res. in Pennsylvania Avenue in 1814? And no thought to the cost of white paint for the repair job!

Mind you, you brought it on yourselves for firing on the white flag party that was offering you terms of surrender. Now that was definitely not cricket!

You colonials simply had no manners at all.

looks like u need to read up on some facts too.

tbh this thread is stupid, people shouldnt even be arguing over the 'facts' of a typical ill-informed american loo book - should just be straight out agreed that the book is slander.

    <cough> hastings <cough>
In the days of lace-ruffles, perukes, and brocade
Brown Bess was a partner whom none could despise -
    An out-spoken, flinty-lipped, brazen-faced jade,
With a habit of looking men straight in the eyes -
At Blenheim and Ramillies, fops would confess
They were pierced to the heart by the charms of Brown Bess.
