Yes, same here. Neither WarhammerF nor 40k is particularly easy to get into. The sheer amount of content the lore has often drives people away from it, as they don't know where to begin.

And a game hardly ever does justice to the entirety of it. Dawn of War I think was good at what it did. Because even without general understanding of the lore, you could get into its story. Though it made it 500% if you knew the lore
I, on every oppurtunity, recommend Lexicanum to people to look up things they want to learn.

First Horus Heresy game as a bad "Clash of Clans" copy was another really bad choice.
Eternal Crusade as a Planetside 2 MMO tryout *has* promising options. But I have written it off pretty early. They had some very strange ideas (like make only Orcs F2P and a Space Marine should be as strong like ten Orcs...WTF would that be for a MP balance??) and when the "Founder store" opend with typical GW price politics before we even saw any gameplay I knew that was not a good sign. "Eisenhorn" could be a strong RPG but as they focus on smartphones I would assume the the final product can´t live up to my RPG standards, formed by years on the PC.

But on the other hand, Deathwing looks good so far from Trailer and screens and as a FPS game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQhSiAKdBxM that could end well. "Inquisitor Martyr" has pretty high ambitions with an open sandbox sector in the end. The "Van Helsing" titles were not bad, which raises some hopes they can pull it off. BFG:Armada, Blood Bowl, Mordheim, Vermintide also look solid and so does Total Warhammer It is not all bad in the grim dark Warhammer future. Even if we have to dig throug some layers of dirt to find a gem.

No surprise there. They had their real card games and since Blizzards Hearthstone has shown you can still get filthy rich on that virtual market, no wonder someone trys to get a piece of that cake with a "powerful" license.

The 'proper' (although i am loath to use that term) games look pretty good so far. Definitely looking forward to Deathwing, that seems like it could be a lot of fun, especially if i can get some of my mates in to play co-op. The hysteria over the dreaded mobile games is always amusing, it seems everyone thinks that there is a fixed quota of WH game that will be allowed to exist in the world, and that such games (made by generally platform-dedicated devs) might somehow interfere with or prevent the production of PC or console titles.

Nah I meant old world setting 40k is done to death, DoW 3 is on it's way so think that's already enough.

Yes. DoWI's campaign was brilliant to ease people into 40k.
It did a great job at explaining the most crucial themes of the universe. The role of the IG and the SMs, the nature of the Orks and Eldar,
the dangers of chaos and the no tollerance policy of the Imperium.

Btw, I'm not sure if 40k: Space Wolf falls under crap.

I personally haven't played it yet, but I heard good enough things, and the quality of the assets seems solid enough. I believe the devs are aiming for a PC release later on.

I somewhat positive about the "wave" of new both warhammer and 40k games.
Sure there is a lot of crap and a lot of cash in, but there is also the chance to make a couple of interesting games, we never would have saw.
40k Armageddon is by no way a "revolutionary" game, but it is a fun game.
And I hope that with Mordheim, Battle-fleet Gothic and Inquisitor martyr we get some really nice games out of this.

It had such great concepts: heavy rpg elements, servers that reset because the growing forces of evil would always win, Skaven directly controlled by the developers and would push events forward (assassinations, sabotage, plague spreading).

If it had the option to turn your character to the evil side (everyone had to play either Empire, high elf, dwarf, halfling or ogre) and make decisions to screw over your former teammates and cause order's downfall, then it would have been perfect. That also would make it a good premise for a single-player rpg like Skyrim. (Especially the evil always winning part. How many times can you watch civilization fall around you and reset your game before you wear the helm of chaos?)

REALLY hope for the return of Dawn of War and hope they make it more like the originals and even on a bigger scale would be really cool too, like if it had Titans and all the other supers and such omg thad be the day. Kinda like the UA mod for DoW SS right now but bigger but yea idk how far they would go if they did have another DoW but they really need another one.
