I think it's been already been mentioned that it's limited by the number of settlements, so an aware player could just manage it (first get your royals married, maybe wait for some children, then the rest), the only problem I'd see is if the engine keeps offering marriage to a non-royal while, for example, the faction heir is still unmarried, but I've not experienced that happening in my campaigns. Plus this part is what's already being done by Macaras if I understood well the thread.

My addition would be to further categorize the character types and adjust the traits a bit to keep it all orderly, and maybe also immersive for roleplaying.

Thanks Macaras, I'm sure it's going to work, could you send me your file instead and I'll merge it with winmerge?
Ok, no problem, here it is, the whole thing, what I changed though was just a descr_strat file..

@ Sindathar - it an interesting idea. However, for now - in my opinion, better to wait until the changes that are being introduced to traits now are working and are tested.. For example the crown system and the usurpers etc probably somehow will have to be adjusted also to different levels of nobility, and probably there are more things like this.
I am not sure also how will it work - having generals who are not in the family tree and how to prevent them from getting married and having children?

Ok I understand better what you're thinking, I think! I like your idea, it is very roleplay-oriented, it's already a bit how I like to play, using the bloodline traits and provincial titles for roleplay.

I hope is going to work..
Now it's all good according to bovi's checker, there was just still a Ida von_Hamburg in the file to change to Ida von_Hohenstaufen, line 4925.
By the way the file you sent me, version 2-13, did not have the corrections you talked about in you post, so finally I applied them manually. I was cautious at first because I don't know the file well, but your explanations were very clear! Thanks.

Well actually I spoke too soon: there is no more errors in bovi's checker, but the game crash on creating a new campaign, with the error in the log: cannot make a lesser character a faction leader.
I think it is because of the copy/paste: if I understand descr_strat correctly (never messed with it until a few days ago) it need tabs in some places, but the TWC posts convert the tabs to spaces.
So, could you reupload your last file, it would be easier for me? Thanks!

Belovese, in the last few days I installed some updates and fixes from different threads, so regrettably I am really not sure what version am I sending you.. Thing I know is that this time I checked it carefully and also run the bovi's check and the errors are gone.
It were just minor corrections, so I thought maybe lets do like this: if you have a newer version (I just saw Jurand sent a new update), just point it to me and I will fix whatever is there to be fixed about the family tree. This way we will now that we worked on the same update.. ok?

Actually this Werner von Habsburg that appear in family tree corresponds to the real person Werner II count of Habsburg (https://www.geni.com/people/Wernher-...00007331031347 ). He is the son of
Otto II the graf of habsburg, mentioned below. I am not a historian, just took my information from the internet, but the wikipedia speaks about habsburgs :

The house takes its name from Habsburg Castle, a fortress built in the 1020s in present-day Switzerland, in the canton of Aargau, by Count Radbot of Klettgau, who named his fortress Habsburg. His grandson Otto II was the first to take the fortress name as his own, adding "Count of Habsburg" to his title. The House of Habsburg gathered dynastic momentum through the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries. In 1273, Count Radbot's seventh generation descendant Rudolph of Habsburg became Roman-German King.

He was married to Ida of Homberg, but I had to change her last name and make her a daughter of Hohenstaufens (hard coded limitations). Its true they became famous and powerful much later, but I thought its a family important enough to be included

I have no problem with Werner, but with his location. He should be in Basel, not in Vienna.

Yep you're right, that's a better workflow I think. I'll merge you file with the one in the last Jurand version, then send it back to him so we'll all be on the same version! It is time like these I want to learn to use github

    Changelog:

-Fixed the Cumans, Novgorod, Hungarian, Jerusalem, Spanish, Aragonese, French, Venetian and German separated family trees (sometimes just small modification - like one fictional marriage for Aragon). There is no more factions with separated/hidden family trees!

-Changed English family tree according to the idea: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...1#post15976433

-Norway, Denmark, Jerusalem, Scotland, Aragon - additional good health traits and armor or shield ancillaries to prevent the family members from dying too early, Cumans - added one family member more so that the faction will be more difficult to destroy,

-Novgorod, Venice and Pisa will be more developed in future due to their more complicated republic type governments, for now just fixed the separated trees,

-French names more historical according to the list: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?808741-Family-Trees&p=15987763&viewfull=1#post15987763

-Hungarian family tree is changed according to the description: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...1#post15986748 (also removed "Nembol")

-I changed a little bit the location of generals(so the Habsburg is in Austria) + lowered a little the authority of the current German emperor and of course changed the names of the family members,

    - the princesses and the female characters in the family trees of all the factions- who are alive- are all 35 or younger.

The files work with 0.97 patch G and KCC 0.95.

    To install:
    1. download the file in the attachment,
    2. unpack the data.zip and copy everything inside the data folder,
    3. remember to delete the name.txt.strings.bin file that is in ...\mods\ss6.3\data\text folder and then restart the game!

If somebody would like to test this minimod please share your observations..Thanks in advance !!!
You used my idea! I've contributed something other than dribbles to the community. I have arrived. I am proud.

I've payed a lot with he family tree and namings. I think discovering that you could set a child as king or heir and set the age to 0 has been my biggest find so far, but I'm on to something else now. I haven't been able to recreate it yet but I'm pretty sure I was able to give other faction names to characters by setting the sub factions in descr.strat.

Lets say you're England, and you want a character from Norway in your army with a Norwegian name like Magnus Svendsen. You build the character line like normal, but put the <sub_Faction: Norway> in the characters line and you will have an English general named Magnus Svendsen. What I'd like to do next with it is see if adding Svendsen to the names file under England will generate all of his children with the name Svendsen, or if it will still randomize the names as it does when you normally marry outside of the faction. I've tried this with the French Capet line and the KoJ, sending a princess to marry one of the Capets. I can have a Capet in my faction, but if I marry the French one, he still has randomly named children.

Quick question off topic, and point me to the right thread please if there is one, but how does Crusader Kings 3 compare to the SSHIP or M2TW in general? Is there any actual combat or is it all strategy map?

Default Re: Family Trees - submod for v. 097

@george0433: Thank you for the idea! I think its interesting, and so far seems working, nobody complained . I played England few turns killing the family members one after another and it worked well.
Also the one with sub_faction seems very good, I know there are some cases when the wife is from different factions - like in Novogrod's Kristen Ingesdotter. But also...does it mean that I can create a totally new sector for the faction lets say - "strange names" and include them all in the family trees, without their names being picked randomly during the game!? That would almost be too good to be true..

Regarding the Crusader Kings I have no idea, never played it, sorry..
